We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that taking risks is imperative in creating/maintaining a business. Staying “safe” has proven to keep my life at a stand still. I constantly think about what life would be like if I hadn’t taken the chance to move to LA, hadn’t taken the chance to invest in myself and my company. But honestly, I don’t want to know. Yes, are there months where I make less than before? Absolutely. And yes, are there times where It would be easier to not be the boss? Absolutely. But if I hadn’t and didn’t continue to take the risks that I do every day, I wouldn’t have the creative freedom or freedom in general to do what I want, when I want while building a company that is not only profiting but thriving.
What should our readers know about your business?
My best friend and I started a social media management/virtual assistant company August 2020. What mainly sets us a part from other companies is that we mainly work with bloggers/influencers. We content create for them, help manage their socials and the list goes on and on. Getting to where we are today took a ton of time and dedication. Rather than working a 9-5, we had to work crazy hours and 7 days a week. I’m still working 7 days a week but definitely have more freedom as to when I work and for how long because of the success we’ve had. This is new to the both of us, so it has taken a ton of trial and error to find what works and what doesn’t work – we still hit bumps in the road or still come across new things that need to be figured out. All in all, it’s taken a ton of hard work but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I haven’t lived here very long and a huge part of the time I have lived here as been during COVID haha. So I am still trying to figure out new places and fun things to do for my visiting family and friends. I love taking them to Santa Monica or Venice and exploring the restaurants and bars around there. I live close to The Grove so I always enjoy showing them around there. But truthfully, I usually end up trying new places and things while they are here.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My sister, Madison Luscombe. I swear I would be no one or no where without her. She’s the biggest blessing and supporter in my life. I go to her for everything and she’s always offering up advice, ideas, etc. and she is always willing to help me with whatever I need.
