We had the good fortune of connecting with Javier de Riba and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javier, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I admire the work of Escif or Aryz for their perspective. Escif has an artistic language and message that are really powerful. And I like how Aryz works colour and he tests new styles in the public space.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think that I’m obsesed with the abandonment. I realize that I focus on the idea of abandonement by working on the surface of objects and spaces. I question where value lies, whether in the object itself, or on its surface, or just on the history that it has With my projects I try to show how with implication anyone can fight abandonment. I also put emphasis on the power of the image. For me it’s important that behind an image there must be content. The image is not everything, is just the skin even if it has a lot of force.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to go to Girona. It’s a nice city near Barcelona to ride my bike and have a good time 🙂
