We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At Rosewater, bring eco-conscious is just something that happens naturally. We compost organic waste, sometimes we grow new flowers with that compost. We like to buy local flowers and source materials from local vendors. We donate to the National Park Foundation and charities that our clients choose, because we recognize that every transaction is an opportunity to cover external costs that are usually ignored. We just started asking our clients which charity they would like to support (instead of selecting for them). I think this is one simple way where we can give the community a voice, directly and clearly, and as a small business. We are as much a part of the community as we participate. And we like being a part of the community so we participate as much as we can!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to think of each floral arrangement as three dimensional art. I try to capture an emotion that the client is seeking. Most of my clients are design-forward and are intrigued by unusual flowers and foliage as much as I am. I think the hardest part about that is being brave enough to do something a little differently. Fear of rejection is always there. But like most artists, I find that the more I am true to my art, the more clients the love the work!

Rosewater is little mystical, healing, and beautiful. I try to embody all that in the brand and my work. I think for the clients that connect with my work, they can find that common theme throughout all my floral designs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been fortunate to feel supported by colleagues everyday in this industry! There are so many to thank but here’s a short list to start: Amani of The Amani Experience, Colette of the LA Follies, Gabby & Jess of Cause We Can Events, Anna of Provenance Rentals, Angie Orsini of Slater Jane, Jason Rhee of The Rheefined Company, Molly of Molly+Co Photography and Keven Lee of CKL Events.
