We had the good fortune of connecting with Frances Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frances, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in the beautiful Island of Enchantment: Puerto Rico. I come from a family full of passionate and creative individuals who don’t hesitate to do what it takes to make their dreams a reality no matter how hard it might be. My parents moved quite a few times and each time was because of a better opportunity that would help my family have a better life. I believe that is a part of where my drive comes from. The need to always learn more, explore more, keep growing, and make myself better along the way so that I can also continue to build my own mini empire doing something that I believe in and I feel passionate about. The fact that I am a Latina Woman has also influenced every aspect of my life. I am proud of my culture, my heritage, and my people. I feel it is my duty and privilege to make sure I become someone that my people can look up to. I want them to feel inspired to go after everything they want in life, and help them feel represented in the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Throughout my life my career has taken many forms. After majoring in Advertising and Public Relations, I actually decided to pursue a career in dancing. So I danced and traveled around the world for a few years which was one of the most amazing opportunities I could ever ask for. Once I decided that it was time to move on, I turned health and fitness into my career. From group fitness classes, to personal training, to now doing a lot of online content, my career has taken me on many different paths. Right now we’re in the middle of the pandemic, which is both forcing and allowing me to reinvent my life in a way. I am fortunate enough to be one of the Coaches on Tonal, and I cannot wait to see where my journey goes with them. Besides my work on Tonal, and I am reinventing what my brand #ShapedByFrances is all about. Right now I am offering virtual classes, personal training, and a library of On Demand content. But there’s a lot more that I want to do. I am still working the specifics on what direction I want to take my brand in, so once I have all of the details, I’ll have to report back to you. ☺️
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is a tough one! There’s a lot of things to do in LA, and I’m not a big planner when it comes to doing fun things. I’m more of a “let’s see what we can find along the way” type of girl. LOL But I would definitely say going to the beach is a must. Either taking a walk or riding bikes on the beach would be one of the first things we’d do. Driving down the PCH and stopping in Malibu for a meal. Visiting Griffiths Park and enjoying the gorgeous Hollywood views would be another iconic thing to do. Anywhere where we can enjoy the sun and the views is a must. As far as where to get food…? I’d say anywhere where we can find a spicy margarita will be a win win ! Bring on the chips and guacamole too!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe who I have become to mi familia. My parents never hesitated to support anything and everything that me and my younger brother wanted to do. They taught us the meaning of living our passion and that through hard work and dedication anything can be possible. The freedom they gave us to explore and decide for ourselves what we wanted to do and how we wanted to live our lives is priceless. And for that, I will always be grateful. I also have a core group of fabulous human beings (you know who you are 😉 ) in LA that have always believed in me, supported me, and have made me better. They’ve become my mini family away from home and I wouldn’t be able to keep going if it weren’t for them. So MUCHAS GRACIAS to all of you who never give up on me, and who take the time to make me better every day.
