We had the good fortune of connecting with Natassja Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natassja, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was bringing a product that I felt was missing in the market. In speaking with friends, family and researching I came to the conclusion that unique, handcrafted, one of a kind pieces are not easily found. I wanted to become that source. I wanted to create a space where people can find and purchase quality unique accessories.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a faith-based brand, we specialize in making luxury handcrafted one of a kind accessories for men, women & children. What sets us apart is not only our fast turnaround time but the fact that we believe in not only selling quality products but making sure we are meeting our customers needs at a 100% .What we are most proud of is our clientele, consistency & growth. We have one year since our relaunch and needless to say it has been our most successful launch to date. It has not been easy at all LOL there is a lot of work involved in small businesses .One plays several roles from designer to packaging etc. It can be extremely exhausting but it can also be rewarding when you see your dreams coming into fruition. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is you can’t do this alone, you will burn out. Learn how to bring trustworthy creative people into the vision of your brand. What I want people to know about the brand is we are created for the people, we are original & we are here to stay.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being from the New York City area this is a great question to ask. We will definitely go to times square we can do a little sight seeing . Grab some new york city pizza then catch a broadway show. Do some shopping on Fifth Avenue & depending on what we are in the mood to eat we can do a rooftop restaurant i will take her to Magic hour rooftop bar & lounge its super stylish & chic. We will end our night getting some gyros from the halal truck jumping on the subways back to Jersey.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I want to thank God for giving me the creativity without him there is no Blac & Blanco. I want to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing husband who has been more than supportive. He has played a vital role in assisting me with packages, receiving and budgeting for our business. To my three handsome boys I do this for you. My amazing Mom, Dad, sisters & brother for being my cheerleaders & greatest supporters. I also want to thank all my friends specially GiGi & Steph who have worked with me creatively for the brand.
