We had the good fortune of connecting with Neil Aaron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neil, how do you think about risk?
I love risk taking! It’s the crux of manifestation and has been a key component to my success. Risk taking is necessary in order to bring the next level up into existence. When faced with an opportunity to take a risk, I remind myself that it is an opportunity to step beyond what I think my maximum is. All the risks I’ve taken have paid off in spades. Does that mean I get the desired result of what I thought the risk might pay off? No. But the energy from me taken the risk pays off in other ways. A risk shouldn’t feel safe or comfortable, but it wouldn’t be ridiculous. Jumping out of a plane is a risk, but I wouldn’t do it without a parachute. That doesn’t mean I need to already have a safety net, it means I jump and trust there IS a safety net somewhere.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Shiva Murti Learning Center is a school for learning the Balinese healing modality of Shiva Murti or Siwa Murti (as it’s called in Bali). My school offers all levels of Shiva Murti and also a training in Bali with the Master Teacher, High Priest and Founder Ratu Nabe. Being a teacher is one of my greatest passions. I have been teaching for over 25 years and I love the art of teaching. Finding new and exciting ways to reach my students regardless of their learning abilities and seeing the lights go on is very exciting. But with Shiva Murti I get to watch my students lives expand in ways they never dreamed of as they take this information and go out and heal friends, family and pets. The level of esteem and high vibration is staggering. It’s a magical experience for me to watch students go beyond what they think their maximum is and become strong healers who are of service in this world. And teaching them to heal themselves and seeing the results is very rewarding as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t let people visit without taking them to Millie’s Cafe in Silverlake. They never disappoint for breakfast/brunch. Then I would take them to all the touristy places because I believe that they should see the stuff LA is famous for. Walk of Fame, Getty, Griffith hike leading to the observatory, Echo Park lake in the paddle boats, Santa Monica pier and Will Rogers Beach, Malibu and the Hollywood sign. Once we knock the basics out of the way, I show them a little more intimate version of LA and that’s usually my favorite places to eat and walk around. Venice, West Hollywood, Larchmont.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to Ratu Nabe. Ratu Nabe is a High Priest and the Founder of the Siwa Murti Bali healing modality. I learn directly from him and pass down his lineage to my students. There is simply no Shiva Murti without him. He also has a similar teaching style. Firm but funny. Knowledgable but able to reach anyone. Grounded but silly. Studying with him in Bali every year is a magical and fun experience, and I am honored to pass that on in my courses.
