We had the good fortune of connecting with Neloo Naderi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Neloo, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has definitely accelerated by personal and professional growth over the years. I am not shy about taking a leap, and I’ve managed to do pretty well each step of the way. However, there is an important distinction I want to make. People often say, take calculated risks. I understand the merit in that statement but life is unpredictable. No amount of planning will provide absolute certainty. As a business owner, no amount of planning was going to prepare us for what happened across the globe in 2020. What we are in control of, however, is our own belief in ourselves and our capabilities.. Learning to believe in ourselves plays a major role in how we show up, how we get back up if we fall, and how we move forward. When contemplating a decision that involves risk, first check where you are emotionally and mentally. If you are in a state of anxiety and fear, do not make a decision from this place. Step away from the situation and invest a little time raising your vibration so that you can tap into your innate wisdom and clarity. Then from this place, and only this place, you can take inspired action. It doesn’t matter what you want or what you desire, it matters what you believe. Begin to adopt the belief that I am going to be okay, no matter what and watch your life blossom.
What should our readers know about your business?
I run an amazing mindfulness company called Peace Unleashed. Our dream is to usher in a world in which every human lives from a place of joy, peace and groundedness, and all actions are aligned with inspiration. To achieve this dream, we create beautiful, high-vibrational products, courses, and content that help you remove the barriers you’ve built that keep you separated from your source of power, so you can, at last, become the powerful creator you have come into this life to be. I didn’t start off as an entrepreneur. I have a background in science and public health, with a 15 year career in healthcare operations and consulting. Teaching inner peace started off as a passion project in 2016, backed by over a decade of discovering my own state of peace and wellbeing after a very unconventional childhood. As my passion and the momentum for this work grew, I could no longer avoid the calling. It was not easy, making the decision to leave my comfortable 6-figure salary, full benefits, profit sharing, and bonuses. It was a huge risk that I was willing to take because I believed in myself and our work. The fastest lesson I learned as a first time business owner is that you are doing it all. Our first year, I couldn’t believe how hard I was working without a lot of monetary reward. I learned that I could not dwell or allow fear and anxiety to creep in. As an employee you can have an off day or two, or even an off week, and go in to work and still get paid. As a business owner, you can’t afford to spend time dwelling or in analysis paralysis. What I am currently most proud of is our growing and thriving Peace Unleashed book club. It is a membership group where we gather weekly to review some of the most powerful and transformative books of our time. During COVID, our weekly sessions were a virtual refuge for our members and we decided to go the extra mile and offer them additional support like Wim Hof breath classes and Qigong to help alleviate stress. We are currently reading NY Times Bestseller, My Stroke of Insight, which we are following with a special exclusive interview with the author, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor in mid-March. I would love for the world and ShoutOutLA readers to know that no matter what happens, there is a community being built in Los Angeles that will shine the light even in the darkest of moments and remind you of what a powerful creator you are.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the beautiful city we live in. For starters, I’d take them on a few of my favorite hikes like Fryman Canyon and Los Leones. I’d also take a stroll down Palisades Park to watch the sunset over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Some restaurants that we’d absolutely need to hit up together would be Connie and Teds, Prince Street Pizza, Sugar Fish, and Mastros in Malibu. For a drink we’d hit up Huntley in Santa Monica or Laurel Hardware in West Hollywood. The best part of the entire trip would be, however, meeting my amazing housemates. During COVID we brought to life a creative oasis. Every day is an adventure filled with inspiration, joy, and laughter. Recently, a friend stayed in our tree house for a few days, and said “this home and the people in it are medicine for my soul.” Once its safe to mingle again, our Meditation Parties will be back on, that is definitely something to experience. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so appreciative of my business partner and friend, Ellie Shoja, who through challenging times has been a grounded source of unconditional love and support. Additionally, I love to interview thought leaders and am a nerd when it comes to personal development. I’ve learned so much from Napoleon Hill about leadership, Oprah Winfrey about building a life you love, and Brene Brown about resilience…just to name a few. They may not know me, but they have been my mentors nonetheless. THANK YOU!
