We had the good fortune of connecting with Nerea Sancio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nerea, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Previously, I was a Creative Copywriter at agencies. Prior to being a Copywriter, I was an intern by day and waitress by night. That stage was hard, but it’s the time I’m most proud of. It taught me that luck only appears when you work for it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My personal recommendation is to enjoy the morning sun rays in Venice Beach: to jog on your own or to surf the morning waves. Then have breakfast and start your day at Intelligentsia Coffee. If you’re in a shopping mood, my favorite stops are the LCD Shop, Lisa Says Gah and the vintage market between Silver Lake and Echo Park. If you fancy an exhibition, my preferred galleries are Jeffrey Deitch and Hauser&Wirth. Capri Club is definitely a nice evening spot and Sushi Gen for the best dinner.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m always on the search for inspiration from creative people who through time have reinvented the way we see things. From Nadia Lee Cohen, with her particular form of portraying women to MSCHF creating something so absurd yet so genius that ends up turning into a cult object.
And along the way, there are moments when you don’t trust your talent and you need someone to remind you. In my case, I’ve been lucky enough to always count on Creative Director Diego Andrés, whom has taught and supported me through my career.
