We had the good fortune of connecting with Ness Heads and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ness Heads, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Be a sponge to everyone and everything around you. Especially in the beginning stages. I think it’s important to have a basic understanding of every part of your business, even if it’s not your “role.” Sit and listen to those who contribute anything to your business. Ask questions. Understanding this helps you move more confidently.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve experienced so much change throughout my life and I feel like my music is pretty reflective of that. Because of this experience, my music is heavy on blending genres, you can find at minimum 2 genres in each song. Never really understood why we keep people in boxes when life is constantly changing and blending. I’m most proud how much progress I’ve made since I decided to pursue music full time. It hasn’t been easy but has been the most fulfilling. I committed to the idea that putting in your hours and practicing will eventually get you to where you want to be, and so far the growth has kept me going. I’ve learned that it’s ok to not be an expert. Ask questions. Soak in all the knowledge, never stop learning. I want the world to know that passion and intention can lead you to places you never thought were possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in LA, so my go to for friends is nature. I would find places to hike in malibu, newport area, etc. It’s mind blowing, but i’ve come to realize not many people set aside time for nature which makes me so sad. Our daily lives are so busy we sometimes can’t help but go through the motions and forget about our well being. Disconnecting from the chaos and connecting with nature is a huge goal for my visitors. We’d go to Venice area to eat and walk around. I’d find a show for us to enjoy music outside. Play darts at a bar during the day. Bar hop in Echo Park at night. It would be a very mellow trip, I’ve become way more of an introvert over the shutdown so it’d be a very zen trip.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom. She’s been a driving force behind pushing me to take risks and i’m so thankful for that.
