Meet Nia Lee | CEO, Video Marketing Strategist & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nia, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be around the quality of work I’ve always produced along with the energy and authenticity I always came through with! I’ve always been one to be hard on myself about every single thing that I do and I think it’s super important to elevate yourself every single time.
Once I made the decision to start working with beauty brands, I was super scared that nobody was going to care or that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to even do so but I did it because I was passionate about working in this industry especially because I LOVE it.
At this point in my life, I truly do not feel like I’m in competition with anybody else except for myself and it’s incredibly important for me to get better at my craft every day — with every new client project and beyond. I’ve always been transparent and aware of who I am and I think so many of my people respect me for that.
Down the line, I want people to remember that I was always me. I was always honest about everything that I’ve ever wanted in this life — the opportunities, the downfalls, the fear of the unknown. Even though I had to turn down opportunities or not collect the biggest bag, I still gave it my ALL and you can always expect me to not be basic, not cookie-cutter and true to myself.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think I’m most excited and proud about the simple fact that I always want to do things differently. I’ve said numerous times that I’m not trying to be like everybody else. I always take it up a notch with everything I do and I’m just really proud of myself that I’ve been able to do that with every piece of video content that I put out there for my brand and for my fellow clients. I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry; I’ve worked for brands such as Shea Moisture Canada, NYX Cosmetics, Bite Beauty to name a few and it was incredible to have the opportunity to do so and see how they move. After specializing in public relations, I realized that I didn’t want to go the traditional route and decided to carve my own path with Socialee Media Agency, the social media marketing agency that I’ve built now for the past year now has been based on me just trusting my gut and believing in the fact that I’ve produced really great work and I love getting to connect with so many incredible people on a daily basis to truly help them elevate their brand’s social media. One of the greatest things I have ever learned along my way is truly believing that you have to be your biggest cheerleader through it all. You’re not always going to have somebody cheering you on or telling you how special and amazing you are so you have to get comfortable with doing it yourself. I want the world to know that everything you know and see about me, my agency and the art that I produce has hard work, dedication, and FIRE written all over it. I’m not here to be basic!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not from LA so I wouldn’t know but my girl Deidre may have some awesome spots to recommend so I’m always going with what she suggests!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my former boss who is actually going to be one of my clients very soon, Mary Dang! It’s crazy because she probably won’t even take credit for this but, when I had the opportunity to do social media for her beauty bar a couple of years ago, she let me know that this opportunity is what I make it. If I want to make this a big thing and go above and beyond, then I have the opportunity to do that. After working so many jobs in my life since the age of 15, I’ve NEVER had anyone tell me that. It made me feel so confident in my skills and what I brought to the table. It was my baby and I wanted it to treat it with so much love and care, watching it grow into something amazing and we did! It was just a beyond dope experience to work for her and to continue working with her as she elevates her brand & business too.
