We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Kandelaki and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say persistence..

I am very persistent when I want something badly… There is no way to stop my desire or detour from my desires. My family and my wife know thats :). I think persistence helped me a lot in my life. I am from the country of Georgia (Eastern Europe) and seeing myself now in Los Angeles is a miracle. My vision was always to study and to work abroad, to be succesful and to make my country proud through entertainment industry. I always saw a bigger picture and I was ambitious to achieve bigger goals in life. That is how I raised the funds through various sponsors to study in London and later on in Los Angeles.

I was ”very” persistent with my employers as well. I constantly was following up to make sure that I would not miss an opportunity. I got hired for my internship with Quincy Jones productions. Later, Macy Gray hired me as her tour manager. If I was not that persistent and did not show my desire, I think I would not be able to obtain such an amazing opportunities.

Lastly, persistence helped me to marry the love of my life. I was bugging her through various sources and it worked! 🙂 We are happily together for 5 years.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was featured in Forbes 30 under 30 in the entertainment category. I lived in 4 different countries and at the age of 29, I already worked for the legends such as: Macy Gray, Quincy Jones and more. I personally worked with and hosted artist/bands: Maroon 5, Sting, Snoop Dogg, Ms Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Robbie Williams, The Prodigy and so many more.

Right now, I represent the artist Nik West, produce multiple live events/festivals and work for a booking agency.

All of these achievements definitely was not just a luck. I always was very persistent with my desires and I was never satisfied with the ordinary comfort zone. I studied abroad since I was 18 and lived independently with a $300 budget per month in foreign countries. I graduated on the highest performing grades in London with BA in Business and Finance. It was not enough for me apparently.. and later on I graduated with MA in Music Industry Administration in Los Angeles.

I learned that if human really wants something badly, it is definitely achievable. Bugging/following up with people (with the limits ofcourse) or contacting people who we do not even know, can lead us for bigger opportunities. That is how I achieved everything that I do in my life and I think that was a key for my success. I received billions of refusals for jobs after interviews for big name artist, companies, but it never stopped to move forward.

Don’t be shy or do not wait for the moment. Create your own moment!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend to Universal Studios. For concerts, I would take my friend to Hollywood Bowl and would listen to some exquisite performer.

There is no chance to skip the beach in Los Angeles. Therefore, Laguna Beach/Huntington Beach would be my next stop.

I love: Cici’s for breakfast in Tarzana, California Fish Grill, In-n-Out – It is for sure a landmark of West Coast.

There are million of other places that I can not think of right now, but I am sure I can organize a wonderful tour for my friend in my favorite city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would be able to achieve anything without my family and my wonderful wife. My grandfather founded festivals in Eastern Europe during Soviet Union. If not him and my dad, I would never think about entertainment industry at all. That is how I met legends such as: Sting, Joe Cocker, The Prodigy, George Benson, Maroon 5 and so many more.

Also, artist Macy Gray deserves a huge credit. While I was studying my masters degree, Macy let me live at her guesthouse for more than a year. She even hired me as a day to day and later on I got promoted as a tour manager. Macy and her mom were always very supportive and I will never forget!
