We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Gil and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what do you attribute your success to?
The biggest factor in my success is putting the student experience first, which helps create real friendships and a tight-knit community. By making sure students feel valued and supported, we encourage them to connect and collaborate with each other. This not only boosts their personal growth but also builds a lively community where lasting relationships can grow. When students are invested in each other’s success, it makes their dance journey even more rewarding and creates a supportive network that helps everyone feel included and improve as dancers.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dancer University is a vibrant dance school that focuses on helping dancers of all levels enhance their skills and express their creativity. We offer a variety of Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Tango classes ensuring that every student finds their passion. In addition to our regular courses, we host exciting, weekly dance events that allow students to connect with the community. Our goal is to foster a supportive environment where dancers can grow, learn, and celebrate their love for dance together.
What makes us unique is our 1 to 3 month dance programs, where we were the first to implement a progressive method for learning to dance. These courses are our pride and joy and we are true believers in their ability to make novice dancers into ones who can tear up the dance floor!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A trip to LA is best spent near the beach, and my favorite spots on the Westside stretch from Malibu to Manhattan Beach. I highly recommend taking bike rides along the stunning coastline and exploring the shops on Abbott Kinney. For breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific, the High Rooftop Lounge at Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach is a must-visit. If you’re in the mood for live music in a gorgeous setting, Hotel Casa Del Mar won’t disappoint. I also love the Jazz night at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills every Monday. And if it’s Thursday, you can’t miss Salsa and Bachata night at the iconic Victorian nightclub, where we kick things off with lessons at 8 PM and dance the night away every week!
No trip to LA is complete without enjoying some sushi. One of my current favorites is Kazu Nori, which has several locations throughout the city. Also! Away from the coast, you can’t miss Bavel in DTLA—it’s an amazing spot for an unforgettable meal!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my fiancé, who has fully embraced this company and helped it reach new heights. His dedication and all the hours he puts in really show how committed he is to making things better. He’s always looking for ways to streamline processes and boost efficiency, putting his heart into everything we do. His passion and drive not only inspire everyone around him but also create a supportive environment where growth and new ideas can thrive.
