We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki & Luis Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki & Luis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind me and Luis starting our own business was the aspiration to build a financial foundation for our son and some flexibility with our time. Then in 2019, our mothers’ were diagnosed with cancer. We recommended that they use CBD to help relieve their symptoms but neither of them felt comfortable going to a dispensary or even using cannabis to help provide relief. We quickly realized how inaccessible plant medicine can be to many people, like our Moms and folks in our community. This sparked the idea for our business – to open up a friendly neighborhood CBD shop.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love the city that we were born and raised in, and there’s tons of places to eat, drink, and hang out throughout LA. Of course, we’d hang out at the beach or go on a drive up the PCH and maybe take a hike at Griffith Park. We would absolutely take our BFF to our community of Boyle Heights. Not only because that’s where Flor de Luna Apothecary is located but because you can spend a very lovely afternoon hanging out in Boyle Heights. After visiting Flor de Luna Apothecary, we’d walk down 1st Street to Un Solo Sol for some grub, then to Espacio 1839 for some books and community apparel, walk across the street to Xela’s for a beer or two, and then end our afternoon with a cup of coffee at Capuyo Cafe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d like to give a SHOUTOUT to our family and friends!! Their love, support, and encouragement has been a huge part of our success. We are very fortunate to have a web of family and friends who believe in us and our vision of being a bridge to cannawellness for our community.
