Meet Niko Brooks | Basketball Trainer & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Niko Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Niko, what do you attribute your success to?
We still have a lot of things to accomplish and many more lives to impact. However, we are extremely grateful to be able to serve many basketball players daily.
The most important factor behind the success of Outwork Everyone Basketball is my consistent investment in myself. Because I consistently invest in myself day in and day out, I can serve our athletes and provide value to every individual that comes through our training program. The moment I replaced entertainment for education and podcasts, the knowledge for my craft increased significantly. Instead of spending money and time on things that weren’t productive to my life, I was investing into mentors, courses, and attending numerous conferences to gain knowledge from people who have already seen a bunch of success as basketball coaches. By doing this, I am now able to implement what I’ve learned to help our players develop at a higher rate. This is what helped lead to the growth of Outwork Everyone Basketball. I always say that trainers/coaches are only as successful as the results of our athletes. When I started Outwork Everyone Basketball, all I wanted to do was provide the best value possible to our kids so they can reach their best potential. And I can truly say that every individual has grown on and off the court after being part of the family. I am extremely grateful to wake up every day and serve hundreds of boys and girls to help them reach their best potential on and off the court.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It all started back in March of 2020, during COVID. As we all know, everything in the world was shut down during this time, including basketball gyms. So, there were hundreds and thousands of players that were stuck at home and not able to train. Because of this, I started to do free zoom workouts for kids every Saturday and Sunday at 10am. I did this for an entire year, and then moved onto doing in-person sessions with a small group of 5 kids.
This journey has not been easy by any means. I remember driving all around LA to find schools and parks that had a basketball court so I can train and develop kids. Every time we had a good flow, there would be a day when we would show up, and then the court would be blocked off or closed. That led to me reaching out to hundreds of facilities in the area that were willing to let us train indoors. These facility owners would only give us an hour or 2 here and there. So, we found ourselves training at a different place every day. That is why I am extremely thankful for Clif Baker for giving me the opportunity to land a home to hold all our training out of. Now, everyone knows where to find us, and we can serve the community the way we envisioned. It was not easy, but persistence and relentless work ethic led to many blessings. The challenges and struggles we faced at the beginning only prepared us for what is to come.
I would like the world to know that if you take action, stay consistent and OUTWORK EVERYONE, you can reach any goal you set!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is one of the best cities in the world with so much to do. I would take a friend on a hike in the morning at Griffith Park. Then we would go explore 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. There’s always someone performing there. Then we would go grab a bite to eat at the Arts District in Downtown LA. Some of the best food spots I’ve tried. And then, finish the night off to go catch a sporting event (Lakers game if they are in season).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge factor that helped Outwork Everyone Basketball was building meaningful relationships. I truly have amazing people in my life, and without them, Outwork Everyone wouldn’t be where it’s at. Shoutout to my guy Clif Baker, who gave me an opportunity to become Director of Basketball Operations at San Gabriel Academy, where we currently call our home. Without this relationship, our athletes wouldn’t have a consistent gym to practice in each and every week. Shoutout to my right-hand man, John Leggett, who holds down the fort any time I’m not able to be present in the gym. Shoutout to Dashaun Thomas, owner and founder of Team DTermined, who has helped the program grow tremendously through our partnership. Shoutout to Tamara McDonald, who helps give me great insight on being a servant to players and always challenges me to become the best version of myself. Shoutout to our coaching staff, who pour their lives into our young kids. And lastly, shoutout to all the parents and kids that trust us to develop the next generation of young men and women. We are grateful for all of you!
