Meet Nisha Persaud | Nail Artist & Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nisha Persaud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nisha, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
The answer is simple. Yes, Things get frustrating and hard, and giving up seems so much easier. But, Don’t Give Up, keep going. Yes I know that this is easier said than done. But in my eyes giving up means giving in. Most times we are destined for greatness and we’re just afraid or not happy with our current situation, but that doesn’t mean that your current situation is your forever situation. When you keep going, you keep learning, you keep growing, you keep pushing.. you keep working toward something even bigger and better. It is so easy to give up, but if you keep going.. you might find yourself in places you’ve dreamed of. There’s been plenty of times I’ve wanted to give up, but I took the time to reflect and unwind, and give myself the break I needed, and then when I was ready to get back on track.. I did. But instead of giving up, give yourself time. We’re so hard on ourselves, sometimes we feel like we have to complete something by a certain time but there’s no rush to greatness. Just keep on going, and moving.. at your own pace. You got this.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hey guys. I’m Nisha. I started creating art back in 2016. I started my very first clothing line “Poetry & Pins” It was an apparel line that catered to artists, poets, and writers. I wanted to create a line that represented us. My most popular hat was my ” Date A Poet” hat. I continued this for a few years, I went on to get recognized by many celebrities and outlets. I started my current brand “The Clawset” during the pandemic. I’ve always gotten my nails done, when the pandemic happened.. I couldn’t any more. I decided to start a brand that can cater to everyone who loved getting their nails done as well. My brand included little closet boxes with nails instead of clothes! Everyone loved it, I slowly started incorporating hats back into my brand as The Hat Rack, because lets be honest.. we all have a few hats in our closet. Lol. Now I’ve went ahead to create books, because I happen to have a few of those in my closet too!
I’m most proud of never giving up. It’s not easy running a business, but when you’re an artist and you are beyond passionate about what you’re doing.. you can’t help but keep on creating.
I’m excited about how far I’ve gotten with my brand just by taking a chance and going for my dreams.
I got to where I am by going hard! Staying positive, and manifesting every day. I always tell people that our words are so powerful, so speak out loud on the things you want. Literally manifest it! It wasn’t easy but that’s what made me want it more.
I’ve learned that things take time, taking chances isn’t so bad after all, and friends come and go. As long as you stay focused and work hard, you are destined for greatness.
I want the world to know that some days being a creative isn’t easy. Sometimes putting yourself and your craft out there into the world can be scary and challenging. But I’m beyond passionate and I will continue to create dope art. Even if I have nothing, I’ll always have my art. Thank you to all my supporters, because without supporters.. my business wouldn’t be where it is today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a jersey girl, I’ve been here my entire life. But NYC always has the best events and places. I would take a trip to NYC for an art exhibit, and some wings at BBQ’s. I would go to the pier for a picnic and sit on the grass, relax and enjoy the energy and sun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This might be cheesy, but I want to give a shout out to my man. “chino” <3 The person that supports me the most, that sees me at my worst and still pushes me to be my best. The one that reminds me that I am a queen and that queens never let their crowns slip. Having someone by my side reminding me that I am destined for greatness is the greatest gift I could ask for. Thank you for your support always baby. I love you.
