We had the good fortune of connecting with Nolan Harmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nolan, what do you attribute your success to?
I’d say for me it’s not been just one thing. It’s been a variety of different factors. For one, my work ethic. I refuse to be outworked and am easily my own harshest critic. Definitely a double-edged sword, but I want to be the best so bad that I will do anything until I reach that level. I think my authenticity plays a role in my success as well. Even if someone isn’t the biggest fan of me, I’ve been able to garner a lot of attention. When you factor in being okay with how you’re perceived because you’re staying true to yourself, it goes a long way. I also think my natural talent isn’t a huge factor behind my success, but that drive and need to be the best that has brought me this far.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am mostly an actor, but do a good amount of modeling and designing clothes as well. Anything in regards to all of those industries is very tough, but I also couldn’t imagine doing anything else for a living and I’m thankful to be making a living off of these industries. I’m always constantly facing challenges of “how can I top my last performance, design, etc.” I think I’m my own harshest critic and push myself to new levels which forces me to be better each time. I want the world to know I am not negotiating with anyone when I say I’m going to be a name known worldwide. Everyone will know my name very soon. In acting, in designing, in creating and modeling. I will go down as one of the greatest creatives ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So many great spots in the city. Of course the touristy stuff is fun like getting a deep dish pizza for example or going to Millennium Park or something else. For me, I like Pequod’s Pizza followed by some shopping downtown. Then maybe a rooftop bar to follow. There’s so much to do here, you really never run out of options.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many shoutouts needed. My mom and dad most importantly who have always believed in me and supported me in every way imaginable since day one. My acting instructor Ralph Scott in Ohio, Chad J. Willett who owns Broadway2LA acting studio, so many fellow actors and friends and a ton of other people I’m forgetting. I definitely have an amazing fan base and friend group/support system.
