We had the good fortune of connecting with Novian Cherry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Novian, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success is that I am big on connecting with my audience on a personal level despite having a large platform. In the entertainment world you don’t typically see big creators showing genuine love and support to their fan bases on a daily basis. I strive to show love every chance I get wether thats simply encouraging someone or liking their videos. I live by the saying “it costs $0.00 to show love”. I think this mentality has taken my brand to another level by being humble and down to earth. People in these positions tend to believe that they are superior when really we all put on shoes the same.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A lot of people don’t know that I just started making music and have been pursuing a career in music for about two years now. I think the biggest thing that has helped me on this journey is networking and already having a big social media presence. Often times artist start from ground zero and work their way up in the industry. My story is a little different because on the music side of things I worked as a VIP Host at one of the biggest nightclubs in San Diego before I pursued music. The relationships I’ve made from the nightlife industry helped me get opportunities to perform when I decided to make music. From a social media standpoint I have 6 million + followers across all my social media platforms and this allows me to get in rooms I wouldn’t have gotten into. I think social media is becoming more and more prevalent and the people who took it serious back then are now starting to see the fruits of their labor.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in the area we would definitely stop by one of my favorite seafood boils in the town called Crab Hut. I have always loved this place and go there about once a week. Another spot that we would check out is called Chefs its a lounge that plays hiphop and serves alcohol, good food, and hookah. A lot of the celebrities who come to San Diego check out Chefs before or after their shows.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my mother Kathy Cherry for just embedding creativity and passion into my life as a child. My mom always told me to strive for the best and to be great at anything I decided to pursue. I get a lot of my motivation and personally from her because she has always been there for me. When I made the transition into music and social media she told me to just be myself because of how judging this industry can be. Its always good to put a smile on your parents face and to hear they are proud of you and my relationship with my mother has definitely laid a huge foundation in my success today.
