Meet Ojini Arzoumanian | Interior Designer and General Contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ojini Arzoumanian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ojini, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Leave every person, place or thing better off as a result of you being there.”
Leaving a positive impact on people, places, or things is a meaningful way to live daily. It often involves being considerate, helpful, and respectful in all interactions. Maintaining a higher level of awareness and consciously striving to make positive contributions in various situations can lead to better interactions and outcomes. It reflects a mindful and considerate approach to life, in business both inside and outside the office.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Principle Design and Construction is a residential design build firm, specializing in all aspects of residential remodel. From kitchens and bathrooms to additions and complete guts, we will guide you every step of the way. Our commitment begins from the initial design implementation and extends through project completion. As a collaborative journey, we’re here to make every step as seamless as possible while bringing your vision to life.
Getting to where we are today wasn’t a walk in the park. Building a business is a journey with challenges, however it’s overcoming those hurdles that has defined our success. The path was not always easy, but determination, resilience, and the unwavering support of those who believed in our vision propelled us forward.
Along the way, we’ve learned invaluable lessons. One key takeaway is the power of collaboration – be it with clients, industry partners or sub-contractors….it’s a synergy of perspectives that align and as individuals part of a collective team, we are successful because we are working together.
Our brand is a commitment to excellence, creativity, and personalized service. We want the world to know that Principle Design and Construction is not merely a design firm; it’s a journey, a collaboration, and an embodiment of the belief that spaces can be transformed with principles that excel standards. Our driving force is to change the “bad wrap” perspective of contractors one client, one project at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to local gems, it’s all about the vibrant and edgy vibes! My latest favorite is the Ruin Bar in Costa Mesa—a speak-easyish bar that brings a slice of New York’s energy to the West Coast. The atmosphere is small, and the experience is personal. For a more creative atmosphere, Laguna Beach has a good vibe, exploring the work of local artisans and indulging in hip dining spots. Lastly, downtown San Juan, is a must-see! The Tea House on Los Rios is adorable; a charming tea house with decatent drinks and delicious food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story really begins within the four walls of Costa Mesa High School’s library. It was my sophmore year, an encounter with FIDM, on-site for a career event, became the catalyst for my love affair with interior design. Little did I know that this encounter would unveil a passion I hadn’t considered before. FIDM opened my eyes to the exciting world of interior design, and from that moment, I knew exactly where my heart belonged!
As I embarked on this thrilling journey, I discovered inspiration sprinkled along the way. While my friends and family were a large part of my support system, the true hero of my story was Jack Arzoumanian, my late husband. His unwavering support and relentless encouragement became the cornerstone of my success. He refused to let me give up and throw in the towel. When I lacked the confidence to pursue my career, he was there to lift me up. Jack wasn’t just a life partner; he was my biggest cheerleader, standing by my side through thick and thin, building me up, and ensuring I never gave up on my dreams.
Every step of the way, from the early stages of discovery to the realization of my aspirations, Jack’s love and support was a driving force. His belief in my potential fueled my determination, turning every challenge into an opportunity for growth. Together, we built Principle Design and Construction, and within these walls, his legacy lives on, woven into the very fabric of my achievements.
