We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Magallon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tatiana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
One of my first jobs was working as a receptionist in a small spa. I quickly fell in love with the ambiance and the relationship built between the clientele and the artist. Instantly, I knew this was my path, this is what I wanted to do. My goal was always to open up my own salon, but the hard part was starting. Figuring out location, services to offer, prices, naming my business, selling products, licenses and certificates, there’s so much that goes into a business that you don’t realize until you start the process. At times, it gets overwhelming, especially with the recent pandemic, you realize how quickly things can change in a blink of an eye, but I always remind myself of where I started and how far I’ve come and it inspires me to push forward. I remember reading an article on owning a small business and one thing that stood out to me, the writer talked about how times are constantly changing, new trends are always evolving, and in order for a business to survive an owner must be comfortable with change. Ive always kept that mentality with Luxe Beauty Bar, making constant improvements, researching new services to add, and most importantly making sure my clients have the best experiences.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Here at Luxe Beauty Bar its important to give my clients the best experience, starting from the moment they walk in the door until their service is complete. One way to do so is by building a relationship based on honesty and trust. I rely on my clients to be open and honest on the looks they want and they rely on me to provide the service that works best for them. To some people, eyelash extensions or a brow wax may be something simple and small, but to others, it helps boost their confidence, it makes their days better, it provides a break away from everyday stress and i make it my personal goal to always provide that experience .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and a week simply is not enough time to explore this amazing city, but we can definitely have some fun. The beaches are a must, we can take a boat ride or have some mimosas during brunch, with an ocean view? Yes please! Theme parks are always a good time with their rides and amazing foods and drinks, Universal Studios and Disneyland, here we come! A rooftop bar/lounge in downtown is also a must, there’s something about being so high up with the city lights surrounding you and music in the background that makes you feel so good. There’s plenty of museums to visit, malls and outlets to stop and shop, parks and hiking trails, the possibilities are endless here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I think about my business and where I started, my family immediately comes to mind. The amount of support and encouragement I’ve received over the years, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with emotion. Without them, there would be no Luxe Beauty Bar and I am forever grateful for them.
