We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Keating and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, what do you attribute your success to?
My client’s joy!
The messages I receive from my clients after I’ve delivered cookies or when someone tastes my cookies for the first time…. there is really nothing better! The sign of success for me is when others are excited about my cookies. Talking about them, sharing them, posting about them. It means the world and makes me want to do more and be better.
When my clients are happy, I am happy!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After working a corporate job for 5 years, I was ready for a change. What I wanted to do though, I didn’t know. And then it hit me… I grew up baking chocolate chip cookies with my mom. It was our thing and our house quickly became known as the one that always had cookies in the freezer. I was happy baking and loved eating what we had made.
As I chatted with a friend who was starting her own business, I gained the confidence I needed to quit my corporate job to pursue my dream of opening a cookie store. It was the push I needed and has lead me to where I am today.
I like to describe my business as a “ma and pa” business because it was birthed out of baking with my mom and nothing about it is perfect or totally planned. The cookies are different shapes and sizes (sometimes), but they are made with love and from a true joy of making cookies.
Having my own business has not been easy and has challenged me in a lot of ways. If I’m not working on things or actively pursuing growth and change, then nothing is happening with my business. Everything rests on my shoulders and that has been tough for me. Through talking and meeting with others, I have been encouraged to keep going. Putting one foot in front of the other each day. I still have a lot of work to do and a lot of growth to happen, but I am truly happy doing what I love! And my dream of opening a storefront someday drives my desire to keep going!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Orange County, there are so many fun things to do, see, and eat!
We would ride bikes, hang out at the beach, hike the beautiful trails in Crystal Cove, walk around Lido, Balboa Island, and shop at South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island.
We would eat at Playa Mesa, R + D Kitchen, get Pitfire pizza and take it to the beach for sunset, and we can’t miss out on Bear Flag of course! We would get drinks at Landers and play games.
I would want my best friend to meet all my friends here, so I would plan a hangout night for everyone to get together. It would be a jam packed and super fun week!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, but my parents specifically.
When I came up with the idea to start my own business and brought the idea to them, they couldn’t have been more supportive and encouraging. They really believed in me and wanted me to pursue my passion. They made me believe that I could do this and that they would be there to help and support me in whatever way I needed each step of the way. They are my biggest cheerleaders.
I am so thankful and know they are behind me and want to see me succeed!
