We had the good fortune of connecting with Paloma Bertissolli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paloma, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that the most important factor is the passion I have for photography and art in general. It is a fuel that makes the gears turn, without it, I would have given up at the first opportunity, and giving up is not an option
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My family has a very vibrant artistic vein. My mother created drawings for a feminist magazine even before I was born; my father attended some semesters of theater; my grandparents were part of the city’s circus. So, I believe there was no way the result could be different—I was born with this pulsating vein inside me. I started photographing at the age of 15, learning from my godmother and online videos. As the years passed, I professionalized myself, and I feel that I haven’t just fulfilled a personal dream but also a dream of my family, who couldn’t make a living from their own art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love my neighborhood, Echo Park, so I would definitely take a tour of the thrift stores, have a picnic by the lake, and finally, enjoy a drink at Bar Flores.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Certainly, my partner, Vini Corrêa. One of the most talented individuals I have ever met, he is a photographer and gaffer.
The intimacy he has with light is so natural, it’s beautiful to see him on set.
