We had the good fortune of connecting with Parisa Kaprealian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Parisa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
That’s a great question and it’s a career I wish had pursued many years before I actually did. My creative career was born out of one of my many artistic hobbies. Since I can remember I have always been drawn to design as a creative outlet – both interior and event design. One of the many areas of design I tapped into was designing handmade traditional and symbolic Persian wedding ceremony designs. I opened up an à la carte sofreh aghd design shop on Etsy in 2012 and I was the only shop in the United States selling traditional Persian wedding ceremony designs. It was at this point in my creative pursuit that my designs soon turned into a huge demand by others and it was also then that I realized I can actually have a career doing what I love. Soon after this career move I became a mother. Naturally my design repertoire expanded into designing my own children’s parties and then the demand for that area of my design career followed. Creating is one of my strongest passions and it brings me so much personal peace. When I get to be creative, my mind goes to a place of calmness and that space gives me so much energy. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to pursue a career doing what I love.

Other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The do-it-yourself aspect of my work is gratifying on so many levels and I always aim to create an aesthetic or a design to my events that can’t be purchased elsewhere. Staying unique and truly authentic in my craft has allowed me to succeed in standing out particularly with my Persian wedding ceremony designs. I find that it has been easy to stand out because I have always stayed focused on my own designs and my own niche thus creating custom designs true to my Pretty Please brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My idea of a good time is any time spent near the beach! Laguna Beach is our backyard and any time spend there is always a good time. A couple of my favorite hotels in Laguna Beach are the Montage and Surf and Sand. The resort pools, the resort beach access, the resort restaurants (Splashes in Surf and Sand is amazing for drinks), will leave you feeling recharged. Whether you go as a couple or with your family, there is something for everyone to love in Laguna Beach. Another favorite spot for dinner in Laguna Beach is Selanne! Their food and ambiance never disappoint.
