We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Medina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was going to be a first time mom and That was all I could actually think about . Wondering how I was I going to make it . My husband was in a state prison serving 15 years to life and I didn’t know when he would come home. This really pushed me to want to start . Here I was pregnant with our first baby and determined to figure it out . I was working for a couple doctors at the time and I didn’t think maternity leave would be enough money to pay all my bills. I kept talking to my husband about selling things online just to try it out .This desire kept coming up and I kept running from it . I was afraid ! I didn’t know what I was doing . Nobody was really there to teach me bit I had saved $200 and I was ready to invest them in myself . These $200 were about changed my life forever . I mean I could have used them on the baby or the bills But instead I took the risk. I posted a video on instagram showcasing stickers I had available and sold out . Thats when SHOPPATTIEV started . I was so excited and couldn’t wait to tell my husband the news . Initially I was going to sale stickers only but I also had a thing for Jewelry . I knew I had something when I sold out on the first batch of rings and necklaces . sale out after sale out . The tears of joy knowing that I was doing the thing I was so afraid of . I was offering affordable prices for the most trendy jewelry out there .

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It took me a lot of google searches and Tik Tok videos to learn about running a business. I had to figure things out and I still am. There were times where I wanted to just stop and give up . For example I once had a customer who wanted me to ship her order . Oh no! The fear ! I didn’t want to offer shipping because I didn’t want to fail . But she became my first shipment order Ill never forget her “Aurora “. she was so patient with me while I figured things out . I chased the unknown once again and Taught myself how to ship a package . And Before I had hit my one year anniversary I had shipped to almost 17 states in the unstated states . Our biggest fears really set us back from what could be magic . And ever since then I been chasing more of my fears and the unknown .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man ! Los Angeles has so many hidden treasures but for sure I would take them to Piñata District in Los Angeles . It’s possibly 7 long blocks of food, Pinatas , candy and decor. You can find all types of vendors selling for a great price .Live music and a packed path way with customers ready to shop or eat . My favorite thing about this place is that you instantly feel like you have left California and entered Mexico . The food is what keeps me coming back . I would Then possibly take them to Little Tokyo for a nice walk and some boba .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my family and customers . The have truly showed up for me and my business every single time back to back . They have helped me create my business for what it is now . I literally do it all for them . When I need mentorship they are there . The dedication and encouragement never goes un notice . When they travel from far just to shop from me . Thank you Guys so much for believing in me . I would love to give a little bit more credit and recognition to my cousin Roxy . Roxy Thank you for rolling with me . My cousin Roxy has been my right hand in my business . She helped me with all the details and is extra attentive . She truly goes hard for me and I don’t know how I could ever repay her . Roxy has traveled to other states with me and has helped me with most of my major pop up events . Thank You ROXY !
