We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Bullard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrick, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I first encountered Music I didn’t know there was so many hats to wear in artistry. I pursued an artistic career because my love for music runs in my family and I was inspired by the diverse range of musical influences from my upbringing. I was exposed to Jazz, Gospel, Funk, R&B, and Hip-Hop early on, which sparked my passion for creating music. I started writing music at 9 years old while dealing with challenges of being bully in school and dealing with self emotions and Depression. Writing and listening to music really helped me out thru my young years. My iPod felt like my best friend at the time.

My interest in music production was further ignited when I discovered artists like Dr. Dre, Kanye West, and underground Sacramento artists. My mom bought me a piano for my birthday while I want a video game I should add. But after I got over it and started playing with it. My mom got me piano Lessons when I was young so I had a better understanding of music theory and tones. I wasn’t the best at it but it trained my ear of what sounds in key and what chord progressions is right.

I eventually delved into music production, taught myself how to make beats, and connected with other artists in the industry. After a shift away from football due to an injury, I decided to focus solely on music and honed my skills through practice and networking. Despite facing challenges like a lack of resources and guidance,I persevered and taught myself how to mix & master Tracks and record vocals. Meeting a mentor and connecting with a music community at Sol Collective solidified my decision to pursue a career as a music producer. I believe that music chose me and my dedication and hustle have led me to success in the industry, culminating in a placement with Westside Boogie Thru a Artist Name Teo without a label or deal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist, what sets me apart from others is my unique blend of genres and influences. I am proud of my ability to seamlessly incorporate elements of jazz, rock, and Hip Hop into my compositions. believe my art is very raw and organic, I try new creative ways of different styles every time I’m in the studio. Everytime I make beats or write rhymes I just play what my heart feels at the moment.

My journey to where I am today professionally has been challenging but rewarding. It was not easy breaking into the music industry in Sacramento and establishing myself as an artist. I had to overcome setbacks and rejection, Work for free for many years, deal with a lot of questions about my work ethic and myself. Times where I couldn’t even get artists in the studio because my work was not up to par. Especially during the pandemic. but I persevered through hard work and dedication to my craft.

And Thanks to great people around me Like Paul Willis, Anand Parmar, Estella Sanchez, Amp One and others. I’m able to not only be a Artist, But a Business man in my career as well.

One of the key lessons I have learned along the way is the importance of staying true to myself and my artistic vision. I have also learned the value of collaboration and surrounding myself with a team of supportive and talented individuals who believe in my music.

What I want people to know about my me and my brand (Lift Your Hits Entertainment) is that it’s not no over night thing. I really put in the grown work for my business. I had to fall so many times and build myself back up to become the man I am today, I dealt with teachers telling me I would never be successful doing music, Older people telling me over and over again that trying to be a artist was a waste of time, Even so called friends and family members doubting my ability to make music and down playing my goals. But real ones stayed by my side and I stayed pose going thru the fire. Don’t be afraid of the smoke the world puts in your way. It doesn’t stay like that forever. But you have to show the universe how bad you want it. Whatever it is you’re doing, You have to stay down for your craft. and I been doing this for years to let the world know I want this very very bad. This 10 years plus in the making and this is just the start.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love a great party, hahahaha I would say if you want to have a good bar time go to Golden Bear, Place is always live with different types of music, DJ’s, Bands. Drinks is always a good price. If you want to chill have a good time with food and 4/20 friendly environment, Streets Pub and Grub is a great spot to go to. It’s black owned as well. Bartenders, Chefs and workers are really great people. Great vinyl store is Twelves Wax off Broadway. That place is incredible, they also have events for kids and beat showcases as well, Owner is dope too. The Bank Shot in Elk Grove is a dope spot. Great beers and also have flights. You can play pool there. You can set up an event over there as well so like Birthday parties, job events, Baby showers(yes I seen baby showers while getting drunk), etc. Torch Club is a dope bar and hangout spot too. They have open mics and jam sessions every Sunday I believe. cool people too in there. Solomon’s is a good spot too, They have Jam Sessions too and pretty good drinks as well. I put on m own shows in different venues around the city too so my shows are a fun time as well hahaha. Sol Collective does a lot of stuff for the community and events for families and kids. They do yoga events and also a lot of dope activities for the public as well and most of the time there donation fee events so make sure you support that as well. I don’t really go to the clubs in the city, I hate Dress Codes and all that.
