Meet Paul Rahn | CEO / Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Rahn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Boundaries. Early on in my career a lack of creating boundaries and a perimeter in which to operate my business really challenged my success. After many developmental situations, long periods of looking deep into my work life balance, and other various elements I create very clear boundaries for myself in my business. Some of the boundaries that have supported my success include sticking to clear policies for both clients and employees, having a clear “hours of operation” and ensuring its communicated appropriate, being a service based business I eliminated any discounts or deal making to ensure consistency, and setting perimeters around my calendar access.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own small fitness clubs that specialize in private small group training, personal training, and open gym.
With a bespoke feel what has always set us apart from others is the custom programming combined with unique experience of a private training environment, even in a small group session. I am most proud of the almost 15 years we’ve been growing through different environments and challenges and while we’ve changed, the business still has the personalized feel to each client that joins us year after year.
Building my business has certainly not been easy. While many aspects feel easier today, beginning and starting was a huge effort and navigating different challenges from economy issues to concept issues throughout the years certainly put stress on both myself and the business. We overcame many issues by listening to our clients and responding with quick action. We send surveys and do in person direct feedback with clients to ensure we are giving a 5 star experience.
There are an endless amount of lessons I’ve learned throughout this process including ensuring you do hard research to understand what you’re selling, who your selling it to, and how you keep people coming back…sustainability in every sector of your business. I learned not to be “trendy” but to be consistent. To deliver a 5 star experience each and every time you offer a service to someone. I learned the importance of the personalized experience in my industry (fitness). For the health of the business, the biggest learning was to slow expansion to ensure quality.
I want the world to know about our brand and our story and how it directly impacts the community in which each club is in. From employing people who live in that community to contributing to the health of clients within that area. We are clients foundation to which they build their healthy lives around outside the fitness clubs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge huge shoutout to one of my best friends and former employees who was one of the first people I hired at the beginning of my second studio opening. Andrea was instrumental for several years of being my right had who both generated ideas as well as execute the visions I had on where I want to take my business. She was always willing to try new things and take risks with me and yet offered critical feedback and the daily operations from both clients and employees. She allowed me to be creative, to explore different areas of my business as well driving growth within my business for the critical first several years! Thanks Andrea!
