We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My wife and I started Super Domestic Coffee in 2018 with the thought that we wanted to create a business that involved the community. I ( Brandon) grew up in Culver City and have always thought that there was a strong sense of community here and wanted to contribute to that. I have been cycling for many years and coffee and cycling go hand and in hand and really wanted to try and capture this in the coffee shop. THE SHOP’s name IS A FRENCH CYCLING TERM, SUPER DOMESTIQUE, WHOM IS THE BICYCLIST TEAM MEMBER THAT DOES WHATEVER IT TAKES TO HELP THEIR LEADER STEAL THE WIN. THE SHOP’S MISSION IS TO BE THE COMMUNITY’S SUPER DOMESTIQUE, HELPING EVERYONE WHO COMES IN HAVE THE BEST DAY POSSIBLE. We really strive to achieve this in our business with team rides, drinks named after the top awards in the tour de france, and also giving back to the local elementary schools with fundraisers. We opened our second location in 2020 called Mañana Coffee, it was a challenge to open another shop in the midst of the pandemic but we saw that there was a need for coffee in this neighborhood and really wanted to supply the neighborhood with something that would feel welcoming and provide that sense of community. Mañana has a slighly different vibe with it being more surf, ocean related. My wife and I both have a love for the ocean and surfing and wanted to incorporate this into our second location. We love having these shops and have met some really great people in the community because of this.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own 2 coffee shops in culver city, a mobile catering coffee and cocktail bar, and soon to be a speciality plant store. I am most proud of the Coffee shops due to that it was a challenge to start something from nothing. My wife and I used what funds we had to get this business started and invest time and energy into getting it set up. There was some bumps and learning along the way. We really just kept moving forward with the business to move past these hurdles, we never thought to give up. I think that people should know that we really started the brand and shops from the ground up, we didnt have investors and still dont, We have done and created everything from our own resources and this community that has really embraced and supported us.
