Meet Pepz | Performer & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pepz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pepz, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to launch Pep Talk with Pepz in February of 2021 officially and formally, I thought it was a great idea to really take my time and operate from a “slow and steady wins the race” mentality. However, after getting sick with COVID-19 July 2021, I threw caution to the wind and went into overdrive. Feeling that I could die from COVID-19, made me realize how many dreams and goals I had been waiting to pursue wholeheartedly. Waiting due to lack of resources, lack of time, lack of faith, and in the moment when I was truly afraid for my life, I remember praying that if and when I made it out of this situation, that I would never waste time to pursue what I want to pursue and I would also never spend my time and energy on the things I know that were not meant for me.
Once I made the decision and was able to have enough vitality and health to work again, I made a quick to-do list of what I needed to do, created adds on PowerPoint and Canva, drafted and created the structure for all my bootcamps, private coaching sessions, and curriculum. Concurrently, I reached out to my network and hired a business coach to get the ball rolling. Since then, Pep Talk with Pepz became instantly profitable and has transformed a lot more people than I had anticipated in such a short amount of time. Just in the first quarter alone of 2022, I have completed over 100 private coaching sessions with many returning clients. After only one year of formalizing Pep Talk with Pepz, I have an amazing array of private mentees, have trained corporate clients, and have been featured in Authority Magazine, USA Wire, The Human Resolve Podcast, amongst other notable publications in the personal development space.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At the core of everything I do and who I am, I am an artist. From entertainment to coaching, I like to add my creativity and artistic flair to what I do. As an artist, I am currently diving deeper into the world of theatrical acting and singing, while still honoring my love for dancing and modeling. What has really helped me get to where I am today and where I will be tomorrow, is just remaining excited and having a great deal of resolve. Resolve in overcoming stagnation, self-doubt, setbacks, adversity and trusting that better days are to come. Like I learned from my mentors via PSI Seminars, that to “think is to create” and that “if it is to be, it is up to me.”
Now that does not mean, that it is easy, but that it is possible. Rarely, has anything ever felt easy, but nothing ever felt insurmountable. Now, depending on the challenge, the process may have specific nuances, but my process for overcoming challenges from a generally high-level standpoint is the same.
Firstly: I have to remind myself that it is not the end.
Secondly: I have to get clear as to what is the ideal ending
Thirdly: Brainstorm some action steps I can start taking
Fourth: Formulate a plan
Fifth: Act on the plan
Six: Get support to remain uplifted (via friends, motivational videos, find inspirational stories, etc.)
The biggest lessons I learned along the way that: we are tested to see not if we will pass, but how we will pass. Secondly, in the time where I am waiting, then that is the perfect time to practice, study, and get better.
What I would like the world to know about me is that anything is possible. I’m an immigrant child from a third world country, who did not learn English until I was 10 and that if I can start living my dreams as a performer, coach, and public speaker, then anybody can.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie and a water baby. So for food, I would take them to Bossa Nova, Salsa & Beer, Wokcano, The Bungalow, and my good friend and professional’s chef’s home, Dubz (IG: @DishesbyDubz.
For places, we would go to Matador Beach, Universal Studios, 6 Flags, Miracle Mile, visit The Broad, go to a rooftop cinema, drive down PCH, and going on scavenger hunt for the angel wings.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are quite a few people I definitely need to thank! My mentors Stephen Beseda (Rain Basketball), Courtland Warren (PSI Seminars (Code Your Whole Power), my assistant and great friend Montana Sholars (Dancer/Dance Teacher) have all been instrumental in helping me with Pep Talk with Pepz from a structural viewpoint. They have offered to me strategic business ideas and strategies, administrative assistance, referrals, and most importantly encouragement and support.
One of my best friends and colleagues, Madeline Maldonado, who is one of NY’s top LCSW and university professor. Though not a formal mentor of mine, she is a friend that I have learned from a lot, especially via her great contributions to the mental health and therapy fields via her services, practice, and desire to be of service.
