We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Hansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After two decades running hotels, bars, and restaurants in New York and LA, I noticed real overlap between what those properties needed and what private homes needed too, real upkeep, commercial-grade systems, someone thinking ahead instead of reacting. When a personal connection opened the door to our first private client, it clicked immediately. Most homeowners don’t need or want a full-time estate manager, but they still deserve that same level of organization, oversight, and care. That’s what inspired Sparrow — to bring professional property management and hospitality-driven service to private homes in a way that’s both accessible and highly personalized.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sparrow Estate Management is an LA-based estate management company handling home maintenance, management, and staffing for luxury homeowners. What sets us apart is bringing a hospitality-trained standard to every home we manage, treating each client the way we were trained to treat guests in five-star hotels, with discretion, consistency, and genuine care.

Getting here wasn’t a straight line. Coming from hospitality, we had to prove those same standards could translate to someone’s private residence, one client at a time. What I’m most proud of is that we built this as a family business, on relationships rather than a marketing budget; we now serve over 75 clients. We believe dedicated teams make an outsized impact when they show up for each other and for the people they serve. That’s the philosophy behind everything we do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife and brother-in-law. Sparrow only exists because the three of us decided to build it together. My wife brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience and an incredible instinct for people and culture. My brother-in-law has been instrumental in growing the business and keeping us connected to the Southern California community. I’d also credit the incredible teams I’ve had the opportunity to work with throughout my career, including Chef Marc Murphy and Benchmarc Restaurants, Viceroy Hotels, Mondrian, and The Hollywood Roosevelt. Each of those experiences helped shape my approach to hospitality, leadership, and taking care of people.
