Meet Phoenix Nicholson | Actor and Voice over artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenix Nicholson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phoenix, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the thing that’s been the most important to my success so far as an actor has been my relentless work ethic, and having my dad John Nicholson as my acting coach. Those two things make sure I’m always prepared for every opportunity that comes my way.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Well my first acting job started when I was 3 months old and I played the baby for one of the main characters on the soap opera All My Children, from there I started doing print ads, then started with national commercials and now film and television. Honestly, it feels like I’ve just grown up being in front of a camera, so I’m just really very comfortable and have a lot of confidence on set. It’s definitely not been easy, at one point a few years ago a manger that was representing me at the time told my dad that she didn’t think “ I had what it takes to be a successful actor.” My dad promptly found a new manager for me ( my current manager Kim Matuka) and less than a year later I won best actor from my first lead role in a feature film Once Upon A Lifetime. The one lesson I’ve learned is regardless of what anyone tells you, never, ever stop believing in yourself.
I think the thing I want the world to know and rennet about me is that I’ll always put 100% of myself to every single role I get, no matter how small or big a role.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’d want to start off at the beach because that’s my happy place, and fortunately Los Angeles has some pretty amazing beaches. El Matador Beach and Lechuza Beach in Malibu are two of my favorites and also Table Rock beach in Laguna beach. I’d also want to make sure they get to Hollywood so they can see all the famous names on the stars on Hollywood Blvd.
We would definitely have to make a stop at Dave & Busters in Hollywood, and also walk around in Beverly Hills for a few hours.
We’d definitely go to See the Santa Monica Pier.
For Mexican food we’d go to Salsa & Beer in North Hollywood. If we were going to get dressed up and go out somewhere fancy, it’d be to Mastros steakhouse in Beverly Hills, and for the best lobster rolls we’d go to Broad Street Oyster Company in Malibu.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a couple of people who I need to shoutout to, the first one and most important is my dad John Nicholson, he’s been my acting coach and mentor, he spends tons of hours making sure I’m fully prepared for every audition. I also want to shoutout my manager Kim Matuka at Schuller Talent, Kim has always been a big believer in me from day one, and she makes sure I always get awesome opportunities. Last but certainly not least is my publicist Lesley Logan at Upscale Media PR, Lesley does an amazing helping me get recognition for the work I’ve done.
