We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenyx Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phoenyx, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite affirmations I use in every aspect of my life. “Everything happens for a reason and for the greater good and in divine order ” Whatever the circumstance, be it seemingly less than favorable, there is always always a silver lining. A positive outcome is inevitable. It may materialize today or a little ways away. And when it does I just look up, smile and say ” THANK YOU!” There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going! Well, I guess that’s two affirmations!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from many others is, I am an artist through and through. My artistry releases itself organically from my own life experiences. Pain, pleasure, sorrow, love. All situations exspell themselves in some sort of artistic way! I create beauty! I live through my art. Every song I write, comes from my heart. Getting to a place where I see the beauty in everything took finding my light in my darkest moments. Moments where I thought there was no light. Being so low that up was the only place to go! I was my biggest challenge. And it was through the fire I found the strength to rise up out of the ashes to soar higher than I ever had before. That is how I earned the name Phoenyx Rose. I learned that the mind body and spirit are a team and if they all aren’t in harmony you will constantly be off key. Once I learned to balance all 3 everything fell into place effortlessly. Now, it took many years to discover this place. I often tell people, ” I just got this good. Like yesterday!” But once you find it you can never lose you. You may stray, but you’ll always find your way back. It becomes instinctual, like riding a bike! I want the world to know that I love you. Surround yourself with people that love you. Most importantly YOU love you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love hiking at Laural Canyon. I go there to clear my mind and get high above and take it all in. That’s how we would begin the day! At some point we would mosey over to my God mother Pamela Goodlow’s house for some of the best home cooking you’ve ever had! Really and truly. She cooks with the best ingredient known to man, love. Then, we would take an incredible dance class at Millennium Dance Studios. Once upon a time I was there everyday. The teachers’ roster is stellar. Most of my loved ones are feathers that flock together so I’m sure we would come up with some brilliant concept for a photo shoot or a TV show, who knows. We would absolutely find our way to 4000 West, which happens to be owned by my soul sister Elani Kay. It’s my one stop shop for everything stage, sound and film. After a fantastic few days of feeding our bellies and artistic desires, I would take them to sit and laugh with one of my very dear friends and one of the greatest choreographers in the business today, Dominique Kelley! I have exceptional friends and I love them fore they are also a part of the fabric that is my support system. We would end the night at a stay in one of my favorite hotels the Hilton at Universal Studios, order room service, have a cocktail while listening to my debut album U R WELCOME, and sleep like babes. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mommy and my sister!! I love them to lyfe! With them by my side I will always win! Every dreamer needs a good foundation. Someone to keep you grounded while you float so you don’t float away. Someone to push you when your belief in yourself starts to waiver. They have been my rock, my counselors, my mentors and the greatest cheerleaders a gal could ask for. Without them this version of me would cease to exist. And for that I humbly say, thank you. I love you.
