We had the good fortune of connecting with Pipe Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pipe, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my professional and personal success are rooted in four pillars: perseverance, adaptability, creativity, and the ability to build sincere networks. In my experience, success always starts with an idea, a clear goal, and the determination to take incremental steps towards it. Then, as progress unfolds, seemingly unattainable goals are conquered unexpectedly. Also, your personal definition of success is key; chasing money or awards may end up being an endless pursuit. However, measuring success in terms of love and the quality of people accompanying you on the journey makes each day a genuine success, even in the most mundane situations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I fell in love with storytelling from an early age. Music, literature, and film have always been my passion from the beginning. Then, I found my calling in cinema, specializing in fantasy, kids, and family content. I believe that one factor that sets my films apart is precisely that they all intend to explore the magic in everyday life. With my company, “Sketch Me”, we assist brands, communities, and Latinx creatives in finding their voice and growing through transmedia storytelling. I am proud of all my work, particularly of two projects: “Sophia’s Eclipse,” a magical realism film that I produced and directed, narrating the story of a young girl who must halt an impending lunar eclipse to save her father from disappearing in the shadow of the earth. More recently, on the advertising side of my work, I spearheaded the Latin Heritage Month campaign for Nike, where we highlighted three extraordinary female Latinx athletes.

Coming from Colombia, my journey to establish a career in Hollywood was full of obstacles and challenges, and still is to date. However, through hard work and perseverance, I have managed to develop a career focused on what I like to call honest storytelling. I hope that my story conveys to the world that regardless of where you are from, with a clear goal and the courage to pursue it, you will always find a way to achieve your dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
While L.A. is known for its entertainment, food, and vibrant energy, it’s important to consider exploring lesser-known spots that may offer unique experiences and perspectives. I’d suggest venturing outside the typical tourist spots to discover hidden gems that are off the beaten path, considering exploring neighborhoods like Koreatown, Echo Park, or Boyle Heights to get a different taste of the diverse cultural fabric of Los Angeles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family: my wife, Sandra Monty; my children, Antonella and Matías; my parents; my sister; and all the friends, mentors, and family members who have contributed to shaping me into the person I am today.
