We had the good fortune of connecting with PLAY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PLAY, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
At times, being a creative can be very strenuous. It can take a negative toll on you mentally & financially. Any time I think about giving up I always think about the outcome of the work that I’m putting in and the sacrifices that I’m making to achieve my goals, and that keeps me focused.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a rapper but I prefer to label myself as a life stylist, I strive to create a soundscape for people to be able to curate their lives to. I think what sets me apart from others is the relatability & passion that I exude anytime I create music. I got to where I’m at today by stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing the things that were necessary for me to win. The journey wasn’t easy, it took a lot of growing & self-reflection but I learned that that I had to stop holding myself back. My foundation is built on originality and authenticity so I want the world to always identify me with that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my dad’s house. His house is my favorite place to hang out & unwind. Outside of that, it would be the studio. I’m a home body so I don’t go out alot so I don’t care to be on the scene.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
PRSTNE is a collective that I’m apart of & has been a vital part of what I’ve became as a creative. Also, my family, they’re very important to me and serve as my safe haven whenever I’m overwhelmed in life.
