We had the good fortune of connecting with Poe the Passenger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Poe the Passenger, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
We are a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band. However, Jeff, the lead singer, is from Chicago, IL. He moved to Los Angeles, CA at the age of 18 to pursue acting and in the process found a love for singing and songwriting. Jeff in the process of being in LA started the band Poe The Passenger. Trent grew up in La Canada, CA drumming for multiple bands until he joined Poe The Passenger, he then began to song write for the band and met Jeff at a comedy show. Matt grew up in Pasadena, CA playing bass guitar for just recreation until he was asked to join Poe The Passenger. Their upbringing is heavily family-oriented and the pursuit to be authentic and connect with others has been the driving force for their music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Poe The Passenger through their music tells stories that connect to their listeners with the intention to motivate their community to be authentic. Getting to where we are now took alot of dedication and grass roots communication with fans and soon-to-be fans. We get together three times a week for three hours to write music, hit up fans, make artwork, and write music videos for our tracks. It isn’t easy but falling in love with the process is more rewarding especially when the reward is knowing that someone’s day is a little easier because they heard our latest track.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lucky Boy Burrito in Pasadena, CA. We love their breakfast burritos and always like to hit up the spot to catch up. We would also take them on a nice hike to walk off the food because we love being immersed in nature!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Matt – “I’d like to thank my parents for always supporting the things I’ve wanted to get into whether it was the bass guitar, karate, or drawing. They are definitely the reason I am somewhat of a renaissance man. When I started getting into playing bass, my Dad got so excited he pulled out all his cd’s and introduced me to bands like The Clash, Pink Floyd, and The Doors. Since then no matter what my parents have expressed how happy they are of us and our success every day.”

Trent – “I definitely think I owe a big thank you to my parents, and the rest of my family for always pushing me and supporting me. I know I wouldn’t be here without them.

Jeff – “Family is the very reason I’m in this band. They motivated me to pursue my dream and move to California. Every day they support and motivate me to introduce new people to the world that is Poe the Passenger. They hear the songs before anyone, they’re in our music videos, they live and breathe this band. So honored and proud to be a part of this family. The music video for ‘Heart Strings’ shows our love for our families more than words can say.
