We had the good fortune of connecting with Porsha Rucker-Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Porsha, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the world by keeping women fashionably on top of today’s fashion, trends, and affordability. My goal in business is to leave the world as well as the community educated on the fashion world but also ensuring confidence to my audience to go for it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart in the fashion world with styling but also creating content is my niche that’s custom to me. Everyone has a niche that’s different from the next which sets them apart from the next individual. I’m most proud of my growth over the years as being a stylist and content creator. I sometimes look back at old blog posts and style looks from 4-5 years ago like wow look at how far I’ve come. I’m excited about my future and how I’m ending the fourth quarter with working with so many amazing clients. Getting where I’m at today wasn’t easy by a long shot but it was worth every struggle and challenge because through it all it taught me so much. It wasn’t a rule book back then on what to do or how to go about things which was a journey of learning through trial and error. Which was challenging but also very awesome at ten same time for many obvious reasons.

I’ve absolutely have overcome many challenges in my professional and personal life that has taught me what I know today. Anything worth having in life won’t come easy but you have to ask yourself are you willing to stand the rain when it pours. One lesson I’ve learned along the way is to release fear and go after what you want. Meaning if I want to work with a certain client don’t be fearful about approaching them be strategic in your process and go for it. Every time I took risk and went for it I’ve seen the rewards behind just doing it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing about Chicago we have the BEST food and the most beautiful city. The first thing I’m doing with any friend that comes to visit is taking them to all the awesome food spots such as Food on the run, Jerk and soul, Soulé, and the list goes on. I would also take them downtown to sightsee and shop on the magnificent mile. Oh we have the best museums and pop ups here like the WNDR museum as well as the museum of ice cream (those are attraction pop ups that are here right now). In my view the most fun and interesting places are the museum of contemporary art of Chicago but also the yearly activities our city has such as the taste of Chicago plus more. It’s so many things to check out here in Chicago that I can go on for days about all the great things there is to do as well as see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, my children, husband, supportive family and friends, as well as mom all play a part in my story. I’m thankful and grateful for all of them.
