We had the good fortune of connecting with Preston Sánchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Preston, what principle do you value most?
Design is my true passion, allowing me to blend creativity with problem-solving in a way that resonates deeply with me. What truly captivates me is the challenge of merging form and function, especially within the realm of automotive design. I’m dedicated to crafting vehicles that not only exhibit stunning aesthetics but also incorporate sustainable principles. In the world of automotive design, I see opportunities for innovation, particularly when considering its environmental impact. For me, the automotive design process is an exhilarating journey filled with exploration and invention. It’s about translating concepts and ideas into tangible, awe-inspiring products.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work reflects my deep passion for design and my commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to crafting designs that are not only visually captivating but also functional and environmentally conscious. My journey to where I am today has been a process of continuous learning and collaboration. I’ve had the fortunate to work alongside inspiring mentors, teachers, and students who have generously shared their wisdom and expertise, encouraging me to think differently and see design as an opportunity for positive impact. In overcoming the challenges I’ve faced, I’ve learned that each obstacle has been a stepping stone to my growth, motivating me to refine my craft and pursue excellence in design. I believe that design has the power to inspire people to think differently and to appreciate the beauty of functionality. What I want the world to know about me is that I’m driven by the belief that design is not just styling but also a force for positive change.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to showing my friend the best of Los Angeles during a week-long visit, there are a few must-visit spots and experiences that I wouldn’t want them to miss. We’d start with a visit to the Petersen Automotive Museum, a museum of stunning and unique cars that are awe-inspiring. A trip to LA wouldn’t be complete without trying the classic In-N-Out Burger for a taste of the city’s iconic fast food. For some outdoor fun and an excellent view of the city, we’d hike to see the Hollywood Sign. It’s a bit of a workout, but the view is worth every step. To end the day, we’d head to Perch for dinner, a restaurant with an incredible view of the city. For a relaxing break, we’d spend a day at Newport Beach, taking in the sun, enjoying the sand and ocean. While at Newport, we’d grab lunch at Chronic Tacos to enjoy some authentic Southern California cuisine.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family, especially my mom. Their unwavering emotional support and encouragement have been the foundation of my success. Their belief in me has been a driving force, and I’m deeply thankful for their love and guidance. My friends have also been an essential part of my journey. Their camaraderie and positivity have kept me grounded and motivated. Lastly, I owe a significant portion of my growth and knowledge to my teachers and mentors. Their dedication to instilling wisdom, and guidance has shaped my perspective and equipped me with the skills I need to pursue my passion in design. Their commitment to nurturing my potential has been invaluable.
