We had the good fortune of connecting with Prince Ahmad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prince, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Sometimes it feels like I don’t have a life. I am also a special education teacher so I do that Monday through Friday 9 to 5. I do my business when I get home I also attend every market on Saturdays and Sundays. The key to my balance has been my business does not feel like a job. It really does and it’s become my creative outlet where I am able to express myself. There are things that I do to make sure that I am staying stress-free and have a well-balanced life. Some of those things include eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, and lastly having the off button for my life as a teacher and a business owner. I take time off for myself, I normally plan ahead with the word product needs to be made. So that helps me with making sure I’m not slammed with a ton of inventory to push out and a limited time

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What makes my soap super unique is that it is made with ingredients you can pronounce and understand. All soaps are made in small batches. my soaps are a form of self expression. They are a form of art. I would say there were no like 123 steps that I took to get here. When it comes to building your own business, especially for someone that is looking for a creative outlet there is no such thing as a 10-step process. It is filled with a lot of doubt hope and perseverance lastly failures. The main lesson I have learned is always to know your Fransworth and charge accordingly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are a lot of restaurants in DC and there are a lot of sightseeing places in DC that I would take my friend to. I enjoy rollerskating so I think going to a rollerskating arena would be amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my father Jamil Ahmad. RIP. my father was a very hard-working man and he is the reason why I am in America today. If it was not for his sacrifices and my mother’s, I would not be here today.
