We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscila Buiar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PRISCILA, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is a very interesting topic to talk about. I feel like ever since I started to work as an influencer and to post a lot of my work and projects on social media, I noticed that my followers and fans always associate me with work as if I were a workaholic, so I wanted to talk about it for a long time. Of course, I work a lot, and I love what I do, so I’m a very dedicated and hard-working person. However, these days, I use social media as a great platform to spread the word about my work and the project I’m working on. It’s deliberate and a strategy to draw in additional work and projects. However, that is not how my life resumes.

It seems like everyone just sees me there, as like my employment is the center of my existence. And it actually does for a while. I’m so much more than that, though. And these days, I prefer to spend my private moments with my loved ones, partner, or closest friends away from the spotlight. We don’t post very often. I make the decision to lead a low-key genuine existence. However, it goes without saying that I enjoy going to parties, going out frequently, and getting a lot of sleep.

This is also a significant element of my life. I believe that the harder I work for certain periods of time, the more I need to restore and enjoy my personal life. The biggest problem in life is finding balance in between, so I value these moments a lot. I think that’s why I prefer not to post: I want to be present with the people I care about. It is in these moments that I can recharge my batteries and continue pursuing my dreams. People frequently ask me how I find the strength to do everything I do at the same time, and the answer is simple: it comes from my time off; it comes from the good and genuine moments I have with the people who truly love me, from my time spent in nature, and especially when I’m alone reflecting on my life, my dreams, and who I am. In these periods of silence, I can better hear my inner voice and connect with the person I truly am, rather than the person others expect me to be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well. I guess that, like everyone, I’ve been through a lot to get to where I am in my career and path today. It hasn’t been easy. The good part, though, has been the people that I share my path today with. Ever since Stupid Wife and thanks to internet connections, I got the chance to connect and communicate with followers and fans from all over the World. Different cultures, languages, stories, but the one thing that they all have in common is that they inspire me. Through my community, I’ve learned how all of us women have inspirational stories. In my project Selfcare by Pri Buiar, I have this segment where I interview inspiring women. And in the beginning, I thought that I’d have to invite famous people or women in leadership positions at their jobs. But the reality that hit me is that we are all inspirations. Every single woman has to accomplish something remarkable in her life, whether big or small. It’s these everyday stories of resilience, courage, and creativity that truly resonate and show the power of our collective experiences. so much in life; we have to work so hard in every aspect of our lives that no matter what we have as an occupation, our routine is very heavy, and our everyday effort is something to look at with pride. So I’m very grateful and honored to have the opportunity to connect with them. I try to meet for a coffee every week, every two weeks, or every time that someone comes to Rio de Janeiro. I feel like as I listen to their stories and look in their eyes, I learn so much. And I see that, no matter what they’re struggling with, they still go on with life with so much happiness, bravery, and courage. They inspire me every day and keep me motivated to pursue my goals and to grow even more in this community of women supporting and helping each other.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well. If I had a friend who was visiting Rio de Janeiro for a week, I would absolutely recommend they spend two to three days on Ilha Grande. Ilha Grande is the most gorgeous island I’ve ever visited (and I’ve traveled to some beautiful places in my life so far.) And this place completely connects to the first issue; I believe it is the ideal paradise to escape to for a few days of rest and balance after a long day at work. There isn’t a good wifi signal, so you can really relax and connect with nature. Places like Blue lagoon, Ilhas Botinas, Enseada do Bananal, and so many other beaches over there are really breathtaking and deserve to be seen and experienced once in a lifetime.

After that, in Rio de Janeiro, the capital, I recommend visiting the Portuguese Literature Museum downtown, which will make you feel like you’re in the Beauty and the Beast Library (this is a good tip for readers lol.)

For food and drinks, I recommend two vegan restaurants (I’ve been vegetarian for ten years): Teva and .Org. They serve delicious, organic, and healthy meals that even non-vegans will like. In Brazil, we have a wide range of fruits and vegetables, so I think it’s a great way for discovering about our cuisine.

And for sunset enthusiasts, Rio has gorgeous sunsets throughout the year, but especially in April and May. You may enjoy it in São Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema, and Mureta da Urca. Just to watch it, walk down the sidewalk, maybe grab a drink or a coconut water from a beach kiosk; occasionally there’s a live singer; watch people passing by, doing workouts or walking their dogs; I feel that this is magical enough, even on our regular days.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, I take every chance to thank my family for their support! I don’t take anything for granted since I know they’re the reason I’ve never stopped pursuing my dreams. I began this career when I was just nine years old. But before that, I recall having an amazing teacher who challenged me with tiny chores since she saw I was an introvert. She was continuously trying to bring me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to interact and expose myself. She was the first to tell my mother that she should pay attention to this aspect of my personality. Later on in my 9th year, my mom signed me up for acting classes, which was life-changing for me.

So I’m grateful to my mother for hearing me out and taking action. Nowadays, after a lot of therapy and self-discovery, I realize that art and acting have saved me many times. I’m still an introvert, but my profession and acting skills allow me to express myself to the rest of the world. Art allows me to express myself; I can convey whatever I feel in real life (and I feel a lot), but most of the time I don’t know how to express or yell it out loud, hehe.

Acting is a way for me to get out of my comfort zone every day, to continue to grow, to learn how to relate to people, to feel butterflies in my stomach whenever I’m afraid of trying something new or doing something that might offend others, to be brave and to be myself.

I am also really grateful to all of my teachers. Teachers are essential guides in our lives; they show us the way and recognize our best qualities. I’m also grateful to all the angels that life sends my way. Every day, I have people who help me and teach me valuable lessons. Making this route less difficult.
