We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachael Cappuccino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Cappuccino Physical Therapy after the births of my two children because I realized the lack of care for pelvic health in the Conejo Valley and realized that I could really make a difference in women’s lives during the very delicate time of pregnancy and postpartum.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I graduated from physical therapy school in August 2014 and started working in outpatient orthopedics. I initially loved working with young female athletes recovering from knee injuries, but in 2018 decided to switch gears and take my first pelvic floor course. I knew that when I became a mom, I would be meeting other moms with pelvic floor issues that are very common, but not normal after giving birth, and I realized that I could be the one to help them. Too many moms are told that it’s normal to have a weak core or leak urine when running or jumping on a trampoline after having kids, and this could not be further from the truth. I am proud to say that in the last year, I have helped over 100 women get back to the activities they love after giving birth. I have helped women dealing with urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, pain with intercourse and other pelvic pain reclaim their life with no symptoms. It is so rewarding knowing that I am making a difference in their quality of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming to visit, I would take them to Disneyland, San Diego and Santa Barbara!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I of course, first have to thank my family for all of their support. My wonderful husband has always been supportive of me starting my own business and has helped me with business side of things that I am not too familiar with. I also could not be where I am today without the support of my parents, who will take care of my children whenever I need help. I also want to thank my friends, especially my mom friends who believed that I could do this from the very beginning, even when I was questioning myself. Finally, my business would not have seen incredible growth in the first year without my business mentors, Nicole and Jesse Cozean.
