We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Autumn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Choosing to trust and bet on myself is by far the most important factor behind the success of my brand. In the process of developing Pause Play Wellness, I really had to lean into my intuition and faith in God and myself. I truly felt organically led to this idea but I was totally unsure about how to execute it in the beginning. We were in the thick of a pandemic, my income had been compromised, and I was healing from an injury. If I had not been doing the work to cultivate trust in myself and tune into my inner compass, I would have completely missed the signs, the vision, and the call to action. I was able to see it through because of this trust that I cannot fail. That no matter what, this opportunity would bring forth a lesson, a blessing, or both. And that it did. I have learned so much in this process and feel immensely guided, protected, and blessed. I am thankful to being doing this work especially in a time as transformational as now.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pause Play Wellness is a wellbeing company focused on facilitating a journey to Mind, Body, & Spirit balance through an integrative approach to healing rooted in the ideals of Pause & Play. We empower others with unique opportunities to cultivate and restore peace & vitality via offerings in Mindfulness, Movement, & (Candle)Making.

The mission of Pause Play Wellness is to invite and encourage healing to take place in unconventional ways that allow the inner child to be a part of the conversation. I believe that so much of our deep rooted pain and challenges can be met in two main ways: the stillness of pause & action of play. Pause is about mindfulness and turning off the outer distractions to tap into our inner knowing and inner peace. Play is a modality we use to release blockages and invite bliss through engaging in activities that bring us surprise, fun, and joy. Through the daily intersection of both, we can step into our highest vibration of being and navigate this world in an expression of love and acceptance; and the world needs much more of that.

The journey of Pause Play Wellness has been one of ease in regards to the authenticity in which it stands in, but also a lot of hard work and sleepless nights to bring it all to fruition. At the current moment, I am really expanding one of my healing products: my handmade chakra candles that come with playlists and meditations. I am still making them in my home at the moment in batches of 50-75 at a time and selling online and in a weekly ongoing Pop-up Shop at West Elm for the Spring season. I am super excited for this opportunity to connect with people for the first time in person since I launched during the pandemic. I love hearing how they are expanding people’s practices and relationship to healing and look forward to creating more multisense tools and experiences for healing.

When people invest in my products and services, I want them to know that they all have been cultivated with the highest intention and are blessed with love and light. I am a one-woman show at the moment, so my entire heart and soul gets poured into every offering and it is my hope that people really feel and benefit from that, but more importantly, they keep that same energy flowing to and through the next person.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The funny thing is that one of my best friends did visit, and we ended up binge watching a Netflix dating reality series during her entire trip! BUT, if I could have another friend visit again and do things differently, I would for sure take them to some of my favorite hidden gems sprinkled all around LA! We of course would have to start on the beach. Perhaps Malibu where we can also hike and dine with beachfront views. I would take them to my one of favorite workout classes called Yogaqua, which is Yoga on a paddle board in Marina del Rey! I’d also love to treat them to a Gong sound bath class at Astro Gong Yoga where they hose rooftop yoga and sound healing classes with an astrology-informed approach. And then finally we would drive and walk through all the Los Angeles must-see tourist destinations such as Griffith Park, Hollywood Blvd, & Rodeo Drive. If this person visiting was my mom then she specifically would desperately want to visit the original Brady Bunch House in person! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my friend and sister, Michelle Stroffolino, who has been an avid supporter, confidant, and true ally during this time. We both have grown so much together and are currently on similar paths of entrepreneurship and stepping deeper into purpose. She is the Founder of an incredible business called The Academy NY/LA, a one-on-one approach to dance technique, performance, conditioning and mentorship, built on values of body positivity and healthy self esteem. I feel so grateful to have a friend who is going through similar triumphs and challenges at the same time as me. Not only do I feel less alone on my journey, but I also have someone I can laugh through the wild stories with, cultivate a mutual understanding and respect for the work it takes to run a prosperous business, bounce ideas off of one another, and can continue to be reminded of how far we both have come.
