We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Zehden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Conquering fears and taking risks has shaped my life and career, leading to incredible opportunities. One major turning point was when I fearlessly moved from Germany to Los Angeles, despite uncertainty and limited funds. This leap of faith opened the door to personal and professional growth beyond my wildest dreams.
Another pivotal moment came when I decided to start my own business as a somatic practitioner and coach. Confronting my fears head-on and stepping outside my comfort zone paid off in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Achievements and accomplishments followed, defying all my internal doubts.
These experiences have taught me that facing fears and taking calculated risks is the key to unlocking success and personal fulfillment. Each time I defy my fears, I break through barriers and achieve goals that once seemed impossible.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m proud to say that I’ve transformed my pain into power. Despite the traumas I’ve endured, I not only escaped the darkness, but I’m now helping others do the same.
My journey to where I am today involved conquering numerous challenges. I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, and even my published children’s books reflect the depth of my thoughts and character. However, it was the devastating loss of my mother to suicide that propelled me into the realm of mental health and assisting others.
When I was 12 weeks pregnant, my mother tragically took her own life, leaving me with a heavy burden to bear. Grief was not unfamiliar to me, as I had already experienced the loss of my father when I was 21. But this time was different. In order to navigate through my emotions, I was fortunate to have a wonderful therapist, but it wasn’t enough. With the well-being of my unborn child in mind, I embarked on a journey of researching depression and coping mechanisms.
This led me to become an emotional counselor at the suicide prevention hotline, reachable at 988.
When the pandemic hit and remote work became the norm, balancing childcare and taking calls became nearly impossible. So I sought alternative ways to make a difference and found Somatic Healing. I enrolled in a training program and discovered the impact of generational trauma on women. Fascinated by this revelation, I decided to specialize in helping women release the burdens they carry.
The lesson learned through my own experiences is clear: no matter how bleak life may seem, there is always a way out. There are genuine, kind-hearted people eager to lend a helping hand if we allow them.
What I want the world to understand is that women don’t have to compete with one another. Together, we can shatter the notion of “mean girls.” Every woman is worthy of feeling like a queen, empowered to reclaim her sovereignty and establish boundaries in a royal way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I take all my friends to Aharon Coffee, I just love this little coffee shop and then right next to it are two really cute little stores, one is called epiphany, it’s on Beverly drive and has the sweetest stuff, cloth jewelry, crystals everything. For kids cloth and toys there is Aunti Barbara. So cute!
Other than that I’ll take them to Santa Monica on Montana for cute coffee shops and boutiques like Jane – love they cloth!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ester Larkin, from the Kabbalah Center. She has been my guide, mentor, coach you name it. Without her love and her guidance I wouldn’t be who I am today! Even though she made me cry and mad sometimes. Esther embodies women supporting women by being there for each other and guiding with wisdom and love.
