We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachelle Carson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachelle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk-taking has guided my life and career decisions. The decision to launch LILY + MIEL was about stepping into the unknown and was a huge risk for me, not knowing what the outcome would be. Every product formulation, marketing strategy, and business expansion has required me to venture beyond my comfort zone. I strongly believe that in order to drive a company towards success, it is essential to embrace risks and take leaps of faith.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets LILY + MILY apart is our commitment to delivering skincare without compromise. We emphasis the use of nourishing properties of vitamins, minerals, flower and nut extracts, while steering away from harsh chemicals and toxins. Not only do our products feel luxurious through their textures and scents, but they come in environmentally friendly packaging. We’ve designed our packaging to be as kind to the Earth as our products are to your skin.
LILY + MIEL’s journey to where it is today has been both inspiring and challenging. It wasn’t always easy, but our passion and determination has been what has guided us through the obstacles. An example of overcoming challenges was the constant refining of our formulations in creating our line and making sure to stay true to our core values.
What we’re most proud of is the community we’ve built. Seeing people of all skin types and genders come together to embrace their natural beauty with our products is incredibly rewarding.
Our story is one of growth, driven by a deep desire to create a brand that aligns with values that truly matter. We want the world to know that LILY + MIEL isn’t just about skincare; it’s about mindful self-care, inspiring confidence and uniqueness while caring for the environment.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week long trip, I would first make sure to take her to The Grove. No matter how many times I’ve been it still feels like a magical place, especially around the holidays when they have the nightly Christmas snow and fountain show. |The Getty Center would be a great place to take her with its art museum, stunning architecture and panoramic views of the city. Depending on her mood, we would choose between a more hidden trail to hike or Griffith Park to take in the views of the Hollywood sign and the city. Lunch at Polo Lounge is always a fun time. At night we would most likely attend a comedy show at the Laugh Factory or check out a jazz show at Black Rabbit. I would take her to Jones which has amazing food and a fun local vibe. Dinner at the Little Door, a sexy hidden gem on 3rd Street is a must. And of course we would explore some rooftop bars with pools and views.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been extremely fortunate to have an incredible circle of friends and family who have stood beside me every step of the way. Their unwavering support and encouragement have kept me motivated and determined to bring my vision to life. From late night brainstorming sessions to countless uplifting conversations, they have shown me that this dream is worth chasing. They have cheered for me since day one, believing in my abilities and giving me the confidence to navigate this crazy world of entrepreneurship.
