We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachelle Show and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachelle, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The most important decision I made, aside from working for myself, was choosing to fully commit to myself and my dreams. I made the difficult decision to leave a toxic environment at home and step into the unknown, betting on myself with everything on the line. It wasn’t just about pursuing a career—it was about believing in my potential and being willing to take that leap, no matter the risks. That decision to prioritize myself and my future has been the foundation of my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of my deep-rooted connection to my heritage and my personal experiences. I blend elements of Pop and R&B with influences from my Congolese and Filipina roots, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and contemporary. What sets me apart is not just my unique musical style, but also my resilience and commitment to my craft. My music is deeply personal, and I strive to evoke emotions that listeners might have been neglecting, offering them a sense of release and healing.

I’m particularly proud of how my journey has unfolded so far. From performing in school plays and musical theater to gracing stages internationally, including Europe and Atlanta, my hard work has been recognized with significant milestones. I’ve generated over 140,000 streams and 50,000 YouTube views, and I’ve been able to collaborate with industry talents and appear in notable projects like Melanie Fiona’s Amazon special.

Getting to where I am today was far from easy. Leaving a toxic environment at home and starting from scratch in the music industry was a monumental challenge. I had to bet on myself, and that meant making tough decisions and navigating obstacles with unwavering determination. I educated myself about the industry, sought opportunities like the Remix Project and Honey Jam, and used every setback as a learning experience.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of perseverance and self-belief. No matter how difficult things get, staying true to my vision and being resilient has been key to overcoming challenges. I want the world to know that my brand and my story are built on authenticity and a deep commitment to my art. My music is a testament to my journey and a celebration of the power of resilience and self-expression.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan a week filled with my favorite local spots and activities. We’d start with delicious brunches and ice cream outings, explore the city by bike, and enjoy a mix of scenic hikes and nature reserves. Each day would feature a blend of great meals at trendy restaurants and local gems, as well as visits to cultural landmarks and fun events. I’d make sure to incorporate relaxing activities like a spa day and enjoy some downtime at parks or beaches. It would be a perfect blend of food, adventure, and relaxation to showcase the best of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have a few people and organizations to thank for their support along my journey. First and foremost, my friends and support system have been a huge source of love and encouragement. They surrounded me with care during some of the toughest moments in my life and have always believed in me when I needed it most.

I also want to give a big shoutout to the Remix Project and Honey Jam. These programs gave me invaluable opportunities to learn, grow, and hone my craft, and they introduced me to a community of like-minded individuals who continue to inspire me. Lastly, a special mention goes to my dad—his legacy has been a constant motivation for me to keep pushing forward and never give up.
