We had the good fortune of connecting with Racquel TW and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Racquel, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Poetry and my heart centered creative business were born out of my passions and spiritual practices, that have saved+blessed me throughout my life. .Everything that I offer now through multiple mediums, my podcast; Spiritual Tools for Daily Living, Spiritual Tools Shoppe; and the latest Rock Your Beauty LA, People would often seek me out for answers, and I figured others could benefit from my tried and tested, hard earned lessons. If I can help others get out of their dark days faster than I did, that’s what it’s about.
What should our readers know about your business?
Wild Horses Press was created as I tenaciously set out to self publish my first poetry book. Voices of Nature Love, Mother Earth. It took me ten years and I died and came back to life a thousand times to do it, but with prayer. it happened. I knew I wanted to pay it forward and publish more of what the world needs to hear! Spiritual Tools Shoppe and Spiritual Tools For Daily Living podcast came out of my being raised in a very spiritual family and rising from my own ashes several times in my life. I realized I’ve been given intuitive gifts+talents for a reason. Everyone has them within and I’ve been raised to pay it forward. There are many mediums to share nowadays and there’s a saying that goes “in order to keep it, you have to give it away..” I think it’s important for more people of color to represented in wellness spaces as well. As Indigenous People’s, it is our heritage and birthright to have access to these tools. Rock Your Beauty LA is my latest venture where I offer Brow Tattooing and more soon. I realized last year that taking care of my temple was just as important as tending to my soul. Working from the outside in and inside out. I’ve learned to follow my own intuition always, to stay focused, and just keeping taking it one step at a time. There are some things that take longer to execute and unexpected roadblocks along the way. Just keep at it. I was always told to stick to one thing growing up but for my personality and brain it has really helped having multiple projects simultaneously. We are all perfectly made. Our special shine is what only we can be+give. Please share with anyone who needs this message.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love so many things about LA and what may surprise many is all of the natural beauty surrounding us. Hiking in Point Mugu, beaches along PCH followed by handmade gelato at Tifa in Agoura Hills. Probably hiking everyday in a new area and delicious food from a different culture daily. So many wonderful independent coffee shops and cafes. I use Yelp to help me discover new places based on where I find myself. At least one day on the Metro to Olvera Street and China Town. I love shopping on Magnolia in Burbank where the mom and pop shops are. Robertson is great too in West Hollywood. I also have fun at the Los Feliz Flea Market and Melrose Trading Post. It where the best craftmakers, vintage goods, and small business owners of LA sell their goods. The people of LA are so supportive of independent small business. It’s beautiful. To name a few things! Of course so much art+fashion everywhere, even in the streets. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All Glory is Gods, mountains began to move once I began asking myself this question daily, “How may I serve you today God?” I got gentle simple answers that to this day seem simple and makes all the difference. My loving ancestors, my parents, and mi familia. There are so many and I speak of them in my podcast where I share my spiritual story, Episode 10.
