We had the good fortune of connecting with Rafael Maiolino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Embracing risk and seeking success, I’ve always believed that the adventure of life lies in perpetual learning and self-improvement. As a creative soul, I find relentless inspiration in this pursuit. Our livelihoods are intrinsically linked to deciphering the enigmatic human psyche, and navigating its ever-evolving complexities. Trying to master it feels like an unattainable quest, and that’s why I approach my career as an unending odyssey.

My journey began with a bold move, simultaneously delving into marketing and acting during my college years. These experiences became the bedrock of not only my professional identity but also my personal growth. Upon graduating, I decided to take a giant leap forward by pursuing an MBA to further elevate my career. During this phase, I crossed paths with industry influencers who reshaped my perception of what it truly means to be a creative individual. I also gained deeper insights and experience within the field, setting my career trajectory in motion.

With a promising job and a clear path ahead, I opted for yet another audacious move—relocating to a foreign land. The United States became my new canvas for self-transformation. I ventured there to enhance my English language skills and embarked on a journey to study Business Management of Entertainment at UCLA. It didn’t take long for me to step into the role of a producer for prestigious film festivals, including the illustrious Beverly Hills Film Festival. While I was living my dream job and enjoying career stability, I made a bold decision to return to school, this time to master a completely new skill. Today, I proudly hold a certificate as a film director.

Through this whirlwind of experiences, I’ve learned that education isn’t just about acquiring knowledge; it’s a catalyst for personal evolution. If you ever find the opportunity to embark on the thrilling trifecta of study, travel, and cultural immersion, I implore you to seize it. It will revolutionize your life. Embrace the risks, challenge the status quo, and keep evolving.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
California stands as one of America’s most striking and diverse states, boasting an array of enchanting destinations within a short drive. I count myself fortunate to explore this vibrant state. Nestled in the heart of LA, where possibilities seem limitless, deciding what to do becomes a delightful challenge. Amid this thriving landscape, one gem that steals my heart is Pirate’s Cove in Malibu. It’s a slice of tranquility and sheer beauty, my go-to retreat for recharging.

Starting in Malibu, I’d guide our adventure through the picturesque locales. We’d savor the awe-inspiring views at Point Dume and take a leisurely stroll along the iconic Malibu Pier. Next, our journey would lead us to other renowned coastal gems like Santa Monica, with lunch on the pier and an afternoon meandering through the eclectic Venice Beach scene. Our day would culminate with a culinary exploration in Downtown LA.

Throughout the week, we’d tick off must-visit sites, including the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame, the glamour of Beverly Hills, the starlit wonder of Griffith Observatory, and, of course, a close encounter with the iconic Hollywood sign. Art and culture enthusiasts would relish a tour of museums such as the Hammer, the Getty Villa, LACMA, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. To top it off, a dash of entertainment with visits to Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood, followed by a relaxing day on the sun-soaked shores of Laguna Beach. If time permits, we might even venture to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas.

Now, when it comes to dining, I’d introduce them to some of my personal favorites. Spots like Pizzeria da Michelle, BOA Steakhouse, The Ivy at Robertson, and The Treehouse offer a culinary journey like no other. For a more budget-friendly yet delectable experience, Thai Town beckons, with Patio Thai being a standout choice. And of course, they’d have to savor the iconic In-N-Out Burger, alongside other local gems like Astro Burger and Bob’s Burger. For a night out, we’d explore the vibrant bar scene, including the swanky Perch Rooftop Bar, the trendy Sky Bar Rooftop, and the mysterious allure of The Edison, an underground bar with a captivating burlesque vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am in life without my family. They are the basis of everything I’ve achieved. Growing up my parents were always by biggest supporters and always encouraged me to follow my dreams, as hard to achieve as they seemed at times.
