We had the good fortune of connecting with Rahmaan Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rahmaan, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from the good ole frozen tundra of Saint Paul, MN. For as along as I can remember a big part of my life has been consumed with sports from Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Track and Field, Football you name it. Growing up being an all around individual was ingrained into my DNA; We were taught by our parents that my brother and I had to be no less than a double threat in life. Those threats being Intellect and athleticism, my brother and I had to play a sport a season, and we had to have good grades; that was non negotiable in our household. If you were struggling with a topic in school, you had to seek as you help as you need to bring it back up; This definitely helped with my never quit mentality on and off the field. My background in sports helped me to learn discipline, work ethic, how to persevere, and failing forward. Those are very big value and skills set that I utilize all the time in my life of Modeling, Acting, Writing, and Creating new business ventures.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of finding a new love and passion in a different field after my football career was over. That was not an easy transition, because my professional football career was halted as quick as it started with unfortunate injures that ultimately stopped my football career. After that I was forced to find another passion like I loved football, I just so happened to stumble into fitness modeling after 3 years of recovery from my football injuries. I dove deep into modeling and personal training for the 2 years in the midwest to start building my resume. I was blessed to find a Manager Craig Damon, and Agent Leah Griffin at Privileged Model Management in Minnesota, help get me sign and out to California to start my new life and career in the Entertainment industry modeling. Now I’m three years into modeling and acting in Los Angeles, and I have had the opportunity to work for brands such as Nike, Target, T-Mobile, Comcast, Dominos, Copper fit, Bowflex, and many others. I have also started on my path of acting and screenwriting, which has had it’s own challenges as well, some being Patience, trusting yourself and the process. This a long grueling journey and you have to trust and know that through the good and bad you trust yourself enough to fall forward, and learn and grow from every single experience you go through. My Brand and journey has been a lot, but it’s just beginning, and I am constantly growing everyday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In LA there is so much to experience and see, some of the must that should happen when visiting are going on an early morning hike in malibu, at runyon canyon, hike up to the Griffith conservatory, and then go after to get breakfast at an Eggtuck, & Waffles (in North Hollywood), or Urth Caffe just to name a couple of places. I would also do a day trip beach day in Laguna, then drive back down Pch for the sunset (one of my favorite drives. If there is a concert the hollywood bowl is a great venue to experience, Studio tour are fun for people who are fans of behind the scenes for Tv/film. Kayaking in Long beach or roller skating down the boardwalks are always a fun active way to the beach cities and areas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had a chance to meet so many amazing people in my life, that have pushed me and help me in one way or another. I want to Thank My Parents Myra and James Patterson for believing in me on this crazy journey, even when I was unsure of what the heck I was doing. I also Thank Oshay Henderson, recommended me for this shoutout; He is an extremely hardworking amazing individual. I have so many individuals to shoutout, but I want to thank everyone in my past, present, and future that play a part in my life as big and as small of a role; It did not go unnoticed, I love you and thank you. I’m excited to see what the future holds.
