We had the good fortune of connecting with Raja Deka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raja, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When miraculous chapters in life constantly find you, you know you’re supposed to share them and remind others of their own worth, and purpose. As a result, we created a production company with a range of full feature films and TV series in which some of the stories based on true events are already changing lives. Touch A Life Productions is structured so that down the road we will be funding facilities and free clinics for ones in most need globally. Our “Why?” is far bigger than us or any industry.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I grew up loving to dance since childhood and never really knew what I wanted to do. Since I was curious about acting, a friend from daycare days says one day, “You’re going to this community theatre open call audition whether you like it or not.” I was terrified, but I went, got cast, and hooked for life. During that time I worked for United Space Alliance at NASA, later was recruited by the CIA, and through tragedy and undying belief I left that world, and took the leap into Hollywood. I’ve been blessed with incredible work in television and film, because every character and experience has taught me so much. Generations of love and undying belief is how I got to where I am today. There’s nothing easy about any journey, but I’m proud of the fact that I’ve been able to inspire so many people with my life experiences and remind them there is no realm they cannot conquer. Reminding myself that I have a specific purpose in this world like we all do has helped me overcome challenges. I’ve learned we all have something so special inside us if we tap into it that the world awaits, and that can potentially impact generations to come. I want the world to know that, “There’s only one of you in this world.” So go explore, put the work in, believe, inspire, and celebrate each step along your way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Drive from the airport: The Strand house overlooking Manhattan beach for breakfast, Manhattan beach creamery for dessert, drive down the coast to Terranea resort for a bonfire dinner on the cliff overlooking the ocean (I’ve spotted dolphins jump out of the ocean a couple of times). Next couple of days: Be at home and settle in, relax with no clock, Green Apple Chinese Bistro Movie night at home, show Hollywood history at the Roosevelt Hotel, Kodak theatre, Santa Monica pier, Laurel Tavern, Universal studios, Crave cafe, Studio tour, take them to see my family locally.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mom and Dad They told me when I was young, “There’s only one of you in this world.” It stayed with me ever since and because I strongly believed after that, I’ve been fortunate to have attracted the best.
