We had the good fortune of connecting with Rama Ginde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rama, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico but I am Indian. I am moved to the US in late high school and studied at the Culinary Institute of America. My diverse background, love for hospitality and a mother who was an amazing cook (who is also my co-founder) had a big impact on me today. The backbone of my career is in those countless moments cooking in the kitchen together, family culinary adventures and large family gatherings. Food is and was our love language. Growing up was the only way to show love versus saying it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are proud and excited to share with the world our Indian Inspired spice blend line, Satya!
We draw inspiration from our family recipes, so future generations can enjoy explosive Indian flavors and confidently reinvent their culinary experiences. Satya is an extraordinary tale of upholding traditions, while cultural boundaries melt away. It is our tribute to a remarkable individual, Sati, whose pride in Indian heritage, culinary expertise, and belief in quintessential Indian hospitality served as an inspiration for her daughter, Anita, and granddaughter, Rama.

Our mission at Satya is to inspire creativity in the kitchen regardless of the cuisine. We provide premium versatile Indian-inspired spice blends that simplify the cooking process and add a delightful twist to any dish. We strive to make every meal an adventure, empowering home cooks and chefs to explore and experiment with flavors beyond borders.

We launched this business year while still running our boutique culinary business, WannaBee Chef.

We are ready for the world to bring Indian flavors mainstream!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to New York City.
We would wake up head over for coffee most mornings and enjoy a small bite to eat. Walk around early while the city is still a sleepy. Walk around the west village and cnelsea. After that head over to Russ and Daughters for the best-smoked salmon bagel with the works. I love eating my way through cities. So we would stop anywhere and everywhere that looks good in all neighborhoods in the coming days. I would take her to the Whitney museum and other fascinating museums and then book us a wine and cheese tasting at Murrays Cheese shop and other days enjoy high tea. We would also sit in parks and people watch and walk and talk. I love wandering and find walking very relaxing. I would definitely plan dinner way ahead of time because finding good places for dinners last minute definitely isn’t my thing. We would frequent jean Jeorges and choose the classic tasting menu, or Dell Anima for Italian food or Marea for delicious Korean style sushi.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents and their work ethic and grit. Especially my mom, my co-founder and the biggest inspiration in my career. The matriarch of our family who keeps my siblings, kids, nieces and nephews together. Being an immigrant in the 1980’s, she wasn’t afraid to do anything or rise up to any occasion. Married at a young age to my dad, they were never afraid of handwork and as little kids we watched them soar in their own business. Grateful for that.
