Meet Ramandeep Kaur | Brow artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramandeep Kaur and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ramandeep, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had always dreamt of becoming financially independent while pursuing something that I enjoy doing every day. Starting my own business not only provided me independence but also boosted my confidence as an entrepreneur as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Professionally I am a Registered Nurse but I was always more intrigued by the artistic opportunities in the beauty line. So I quit my medical profession job and started working as a brow artist. I have gained a lot of experience working with different businesses in LA. All these jobs at different beauty businesses helped me learn new techniques and also helped me grow as a person. I had to face a lot of difficulties moving forward such as racial discrimination and hindrances posed by some difficult colleagues. However, I am proud of all these diverse experiences I faced that brought me where I am today. I even got opportunities to work with some celebrities like Gal Gadot, Davina from Selling Sunset, and others.
I would say starting my own business was the most difficult decision I had ever made. I had to take a break from my job for maternity leave. It was not easy to start again after taking a long break. I decided that I had to start working for myself to be independent and be an example for my daughter as a strong working woman. So I finally opened my first location in K-town called Western Beauty and my second location later in North Hollywood called Rems Threading and Beauty. I had a huge support from my family in overcoming the challenges of starting my own business.
I have learned over time that don’t let any setbacks in life hold you back. Take time to sit with your feelings, gather yourself again, and keep moving forward. Life is a mixture of good and bad times and no matter what we must keep pushing ourselves forward for the best. Quitting my nursing job, starting to work in the beauty industry, becoming a mom, and now a businesswoman has all come with hard work and not giving up on my dreams.
I love working with our clients and listening to their stories. The joy I see on my clients’ faces when their tricky, over-tweezed, or differently shaped brows are fixed as per their expectations is very motivational for me. Communication with our clients is very important for me as a brow artist to focus on what our clients want and that is our brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to do in LA and I feel like one week is not enough to see it all. If I have to choose some spots it would be night views of the city from the Griffith Observatory, walking on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, visiting Madame Tussauds Hollywood, picnicking at some beaches in LA, and shopping at the International Cultural District in Artesia.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and especially my husband, Sandeep Singh, have been very supportive of my work and always encouraged me to succeed. They were always there to help me emotionally and financially in difficult times.
