We had the good fortune of connecting with Randy Delphine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Randy Delphine, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I’ve always been a huge believer in the power of routine, the rituals behind the actions and processes. One of the things that I truly believe has made a difference in my life, work and personal, has been allowing myself more time by waking up earlier and beginning my day earlier. Time is something we never get back and there’s only so much of it that we can use in a day, by waking up early I’m able to set aside time for myself which not only prevents burnouts but allows me to get more done in my block of work time. There’s this whole notion of grinding and hustling but not enough talk about self-care, creating habits that block off time for work, time for self, time for family and friends I’ve been able to maintain a consistent workflow. I truly believe that’s were success lies.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I currently have three different businesses that I run, they are all in alignment with my purpose and passion, but very different in product/service. The one I have been doing the longest is my career and education, I have been a teacher for 15 years and can truly say it is a calling. I believe in not only being a student but also sharing what I know when it comes to being a teacher. I currently teach private leave due to Covid, I also am teaching an art curriculums for LA USD, and teach yoga and self love wellness. That is a perfect lead into my second business, which is yoga & meditation. I am an expert guide in self-love, and share tools and techniques with my students and through workshops where we practice yoga and meditation, but also journal and share experiences in a safe therapeutic way. It’s taken me years to not only achieve the certifications but to be able to piece together the type of service to my community that I really want to be. Going through my certifications and spending time learning kundalini, tantra, freeform dance I have been able to create my own method of transformative self love. A space that the black community needs as a platform and as a tool. The last of my businesses is Noir Bazaar LA, a black market for Artisanal skin care, loungewear, handpainted denim jackets which I create myself and a few more exciting products coming in the future. Noir Bazaar LA was born out of the desire to create a black brand that was thoughtfully curated and created, that shared iMessage of power and strength, but also displayed the many gifts that black people possess as a whole. Recently I connected with my sister and we have partnered up when it comes to the operations of Nora bizarre and I couldn’t be any happier, we are expanding and sharing black history as well as black talent.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much in LA that is untouched and during 2020 I really took the time to spend looking at the natural habitat of LA, so I am going to show you some hole in the walls, some beautiful hikes and some unique experiences: Morning Hike : Kenneth Hahn Park Brunch: Comfort LA Self Realization Lake Lunch: Grand Central Market OR beach picnic Museum: Broad The Last Bookstore Dinner: Poppy & Rose Drinks: No Vacancy & Tiki Ti
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow!! When we talk about support, we have to really take a step back and look at everyone who plays a key role into giving you the space and time to create a business or build a brand. When I think about my personal journey, I would have to give credit to my sister and my family, powerful black women like Eartha kit, viola Davis, Nina Simone, Angela Davis women who showed us it was OK to step into that power. Who do I get credit to??? I would have to give credit to every person who is crossed my path and left an imprint on my life, I am an accumulation of my experience.
