We had the good fortune of connecting with Raoul Peter Mongilardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raoul Peter, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Team building is the natural bridge from your creative expression, to realizing projects. There is the quiet work of writing but reaching outworld with that vision solidifies as the creative team comes together. We are a diverse family of producers, creators, managers, agents and performing talent. The single most important decision…stay true to my muse, and be grateful for the amazing journey of life. Do everything with brio and passion, and your plate will be full.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an author and filmmaker with a penchant for magical realism. The road to where I am now professionally was winding and challenging, just as it should be. Years ago, a brilliant Romanian painter, Renata Keep, said to me, “Keep a single minded vision…” and it stuck with me along that winding road. You’ll overcome any confusion by doing rather than loving the idea of doing. Remember what Albert Finney’s character said about critics in “The Dresser” and you’ll have that all suited up nicely, lol. My brand is about utopia and uplifting power. If I can give a smile, a sense of wonder, of inspiration, that’s what it’s all about.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a tour and demo the pipe organ- that I featured in a documentary, then whisk out to Malibu for lunch in the salt air. We could drive out to Joshua Tree and camp under the stars before body surfing in Laguna, maybe go to a film studio lot and have rooftop dinner.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
